Biography

Dai Yang Tian is a Chinese actor and model based in Singapore. Born in Shao Xing, Zhe Jiang province, he got his start in a model competition on TV in 2005. While he was modeling in Shanghai, he was signed by a media broadcasting company based in Singapore and his career in acting started.

He debuted as the male lead in the Singaporean drama series, Taste of Love (2008), and rose to fame with the hugely popular blockbuster drama series, The Little Nyonya (2008)playing a Japanese photographer. Although his role in The Little Nyonya was only for eight episodes in the 34-episode series, he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Star Awards. In 2009, he was again nominated for Best Actor at the Star Awards for his performance in the drama series, Together.

He and The Little Nyonya's leading star, Jeannette Awe, were invited to China to play the leads in Precious (2011), a Chinese version based on The Little Nyonya.

Dai's acting career is interesting in that he rose to fame outside of his home country. He continues to be one of the most popular actors in Singapore. He has also started hosting TV shows in Singapore after he felt he had become comfortable speaking English.
