Coffee Prince Starring Yoon Eun Hye and Gong Yoo

We hope you enjoy this incredible series if you have not seen it yet. This romantic comedy was quite provocative when it launched as it revolves around issues of homosexuality. Han Kyul (Gong Yoo), the handsome son of a wealthy hotelier family, is set in his bachelor lifestyle and does not believe in commitment. His family's constant pressure for him to get married drives him to the point that he pays a young man to pretend to be his gay partner. Trouble starts when Han Kyul falls in love with this man. There are other subplots which make this show rich and deep in character, including the love-heartbreak-love relationship between Han Sung, played by one of our favorite actors Lee Sun Gyun from White Tower, and Yoo Joo, played by hotness Chae Jung Ahn.

Coffee Prince won a bunch of awards, including 2007 MBC Acting Awards for Yoon Eun Hye and Gong Yoo, as well as the best TV drama award in the 2008 Korean Producers' Award. It has aired throughout Asia, with special popularity in the Philippines, where Martin Nievera sang the theme song "Because of You". It has also aired in remote places such as Israel and Zimbabwe.

Also known as The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince. Visit our friends at Drama Wiki and Hancinema for additional information about this drama.

Enjoyable This is just a feel good drama all around. Pretty typical but a good soundtrack and lots of chances to laugh and tear up.

I don't see what the big deal is I watched this because of so many people saying it was great, but I was less than impressed. While I'm all for the whole "broaching a topic that's somewhat taboo" thing and pushing the sex boundaries (I was surprised at how physical they got), it just got annoying after a while. I was ready to quit around episode 6 or 7 because it was getting frustrating to watch, but pushed through, and now want those 10 hours of my life back.

I loved everything about this series! (spoiler, maybe?) The unreal yet realistic story, the cast, the acting, the music, the coffee theme, the chemistry. I especially like how this one is more on the adult side of love, planning out their lives together, the question of when/if to get married etc... I'm glad this is not one of those annoying kdrama stories where the final episodes are when the leads realize/confess their love and automatically live happily ever after. Real life relationships don't stop at that realization, and I like how this series touched on that aspect.

Cute The theme of this drama is a bit controversial but dear god, its 2010..it shouldn't be a problem. The storyline was a tad bit on the dragging side, however, the acting was superb. I adore Yoon Eun Hye and I grew to love Gong Yoo, the leads had great chemistry. It was very very cute, and it was definitely worth the time. Did not regret watching and will surely recommend this drama.

It was really a good feel drama At first I was hesitant but after the first episode I just loved it. The gay overtones are hard at first but she is a woman and what I really loved was that he fell in love with the person not the outside. I recommend it highly.

FOR GAY VIEWERS This drama is so gay, unless your gay, closet, denial, or potentially gay you will not enjoy this series. But none the less Yoon Eun Hye is very good portraying her role as a man, can’t see any femininity on her which might be the reason why this series somewhat gross me out. Not sure if female viewers will like this series at all, well in my case I did not.

The whole cross dressing/gay stuff is old I couldn't pass episode 2 or 3 because the female pretending to be or mistaken for a boy is sort of old and passe. Maybe in Korea it's a hot topic but being gay and stuff is just normal and just not that big of a deal. Will and Grace was done years ago!! Just sayin' since I'm from San Francisco. The drama I'm sure would have been just fine if not for the boring subject matter of not well done cross dressing. If they really wanted to fool people, the girl should have been pumped up with some steroids otherwise I'd question the IQ of people being fooled by her 'deception'. Or I'd think it's like a twist on M. Butterfly syndrome, where a guy wants the girl to really be a boy coz he is secretly gay and don't want to see reality. But pretends to like the girl once she confesses coz he is so repressed. LOL
