Lobbyist starring Song Il Gook and Jang Jin Young

Led by megastar Song Il Gook (Jumong, Kingdom of the Wind), is one of the more expensive dramas ever made, shot in locations all over the world.

In the mid 1980s, "Harry", or Kim Joo Ho grew up in a quiet fishing village along with his friend Maria (Jang Jin Young). When Harry’s father, an Army commander, is killed by a spy from North Korea, he and his sister Suzie move to America to live with their uncle. When their uncle molests Suzie, Harry takes her and runs away from home. Maria, meanwhile, has also emigrated to America with her father, who works a bus driver until he is suddenly killed in a mugging.

Ten years later, Maria has become a bus driver like her father, while her sister Eva works at the naval intelligence agency in Washington D.C. When she meets Eva's boyfriend Kang Tae Hyuk (Han Jae Suk), a skilled lobbyist and head of a major munitions company in Korea, she begins to fall for him. Harry, meanwhile, has been working odd jobs while trying to keep his sister safe from the Mafia, who he has been forced to work with. When Maria's sister is mysteriously killed, Maria sets out to find her murderers and take revenge, as she and Harry cross paths once again...

of love, revenge, redemption, and political intrigue. Great music soundtrack, too. The ending is satisfying (unlike some K dramas) because each character resolves their inner demons. And, it's not a tragic love story. Thank you drama fever!

Jang Jin-young, the actress who played Maria, was ill while she was filming this drama. As soon as the drama ended, she was diagnosed with stomach cancer, and she died a year later. Nevertheless, she did a great job in creating the character of Maria as a cold and calculating femme fatale, I felt so sorry for the minister when she ruined his life. RIP Jang Jin-young!

An intelligent and exciting drama. There is dancing, singing, learning about horses and soccer interspersed in the world of international politics, lobbyists and the arms dealers. Song Il Guk's wonderful acting ability and presence is perfection as always. Huh Joon Ho is great as James. All the female leads are very well acted and Jang Jin Young does a great performance as Maria. Unfortunately I found the character of Maria to be extremely unlikeable and was sorry for Harry that he had to be in love with someone like her. But the failings of her character were a big part of the story. As a redeeming factor it does have a happy ending so at least one can imagine a happier future for Harry. I do notice that the endings tend to be somewhat sloppy in many of the Korean dramas. Why is that? They are so well made otherwise and it really is a let down. One would think that Harry would be in jail at the end but that issue was not explained at all.

Harry is more like Clark, Clark Kent that is. I loved his character, he was a man with courage, intelligence, moral fortitude out of this world. Maria said it best at the end when she hug him on the hospital bed, she thank him for lovin her and for being a good man. Hey this even had a good ending and all the bad guys got their just due. So I give this mini series with a possible score of one to Ten. My score is a fifteen, I loved it, and it was because of the character "Harry".
