Bad Couple starring Shin Eun Gyung and Ryu Soo Young
Starring Shin Eun Gyung (White Lies) and Ryu Soo Young (Lawyers of the Korea), Bad Couple is the third drama in SBS's "Bad" series, following Bad Housewife and Bad Family. Funny and refreshingly quirky in concept and execution, Bad Couple is about what happens when a woman who doesn't believe in marriage sets her sights on a man who doesn't believe in sex before marriage.
Kim Dang Ja (Shin Eun Gyung) is a successful thirty-something fashion editor with no desire for marriage after her father abandoned her and her mother. But just because she doesn't have a husband, Dang Ja decides that doesn't mean she can't have kids, so she sets out to look for a one night stand who can knock her up - preferably a man with good genes. Enter Choi Gi Chan (Ryu Soo Young), a university botany professor who fulfills all her requirements - good family, good looks, smart, successful, and single. He has the perfect DNA.
Dang Ja promptly sets out to seduce him, but what she doesn't count on is that conservative, honorable Gi Chan will decide that he needs to take responsibility for his actions...

The only thing wrong with this drama is its horrible description (don't know who wrote it) and the SWWs (Spoilers Without Warning) from some of the previous reviews. Spoilers take away from the shock value. Even still, I thought that this drama epitomized the meaning of true love, patience, sacrifice and endurance through good and difficult times. I absolutely adored Ryu Soo Young's character in this drama and thought that the chemistry between Ryu and Shin Eun Gyung was perfect. 'Bad Couple' was a little light on humor with a lot of meaningful and touching scenes (be prepared to cry). Throw in a dash of competition from eye candy, Yoo Gun and you have a great drama.
Heartwarming, I loved the way the theme was handled. I am a recovering cancer patient. This story hit home for me. Storyline, cast,, director and staff did an excellent job. It shows that no matter what to keep fighting even if the odds are against you. Congradulations to all.
Only the first 2 episodes are kind of funny. The rest is serious stuff, and the end is nearly heartbreaking. Comedy for sure it ain't, although the main heroine doesn't die.
The drama is well acted. I don't know why they are calling stories like this one funny - is this a sales gimmick or what. Don't get me wrong, it is not bad, it tackles real life problems and the typical Korean drama elements that are usually hard to believe are not that many. And the show is far from being cheesy. I was moved by the feelings and the dillemas the characters were going through. It's just that it is not a light-breeze romantic comedy I was hoping for.
It is definitely a woman's drama. Enjoyable story about real to life situations involving love, betrayal, anger, laughter and tears. It has it's share of charm and deserved revenges. The writer gave it a perfect ending. It is slow paced here and there especially in the beginning but it is worth watching.
This was very interesting to me because it starts out as a romantic comedy but becomes a bit of a tearjerker. I would say it is a strange hybrid of both genres. I found it to be a bit slow at times that I fast forward through a bit of it. But I loved how they wrapped it up with everyone being happy.
Oh my goodness! Gi Chan and Joon Soo are such mega princes! I want them both! And Dang Ja is something else! Love her! Straight forward and strong to the very end! That go getter! Truly inspiring!
