City Hall starring Kim Sun Ah and Cha Seung Won

Film and drama superstar Kim Sun Ah, much-loved for her 2005 smash drama My Lovely Sam Soon , stars in City Hall, a hit 2009 drama about a lowly government employee who rises to city mayor. Film actor Cha Seung Won delivers a charismatic (and arguably a breakout) performance as a cynical, arrogant politician who takes a young woman from a small town and turns her into a political powerhouse, perhaps falling in love along the way.

Shin Mi Rae (Kim Sun Ah) is a junior secretary in the mayoral office of provincial town Inju City. After years of fetching coffee and running errands, she has no plans beyond remaining neutral amid the political machinations and corruptions swirling around her. Enter Jo Gook (Chae Seung Won), a high-profile government official and rising political star who is sent by his mentor, for mysterious purposes, to take over the position of deputy mayor in Inju City. Jo Gook's ultimate goal is the presidency of South Korea. He's none too happy about being banished to a small town, but with his usual sangfroid he quickly adapts, and eyes Mi Rae as a potential pupil and asset.

When Mi Rae wins a beauty pageant and demands the prize money which her corrupt boss has stolen, she is promptly fired. Jo Gook decides that now is the time to take action. Taking her under his wing, he propels her into the political arena and introduces her as the newest candidate for the mayoral office. Now, with Mi Rae's friends, neighbors, and many voters rallying around her, the race is on to find out just what Mi Rae is made of. Up against her ex-boss and other corrupt government officials, will she still have it in her to win the heart of the reserved, arrogant Jo Gook?

Well done! Stellar ending... Kudos to the writers, the director, the actors, the cinematographer, the wardrobe dept., and all involved on a job well done. The City Hall kept me entertained from beginning to end. Loved the characters (and how each actor truly kept in character) and the chemistry between them all. This series was fun, funny and very touching. Think I'm gonna watch it again soon *smile*.

Excellent Excellent story and acting especially Kim Sun Ah. Have watched it many times now and probably will watch more. It is a classic. Hope there is a "City Hall" Part II with same perfect cast but give wonderful Joh Guk a new hairstyle. The "Body Parts" contract is the most touching love letter, the proposal the most romantic ever. Have watched many Kdramas and this is my super #1 favorite. Bought the soundtrack just for Ho Ran's beautiful song. Would someone tell me why Joh had her kicked out of the beauty contest - I still don't get it. Also, when did the barrett become a pin?

Great Romantic Drama I loved everything about this drama... the chemistry, the plot, everything! It was funny, it was sad, it was inspiring, it had just the right amount of everything. I even loved the rapport between the male leads, I could see them as being friends in the real world too!

Romantic, and funny. I prefer City Hall over Sam Soon, I think Kim Sun Ah shines more in this Drama. Thjis is te first time I had watch a Drama by Cha Seung Won but I have to say he's perfect for his role. They have a great chemistry together which I think it is essential in a great Drama. I hope there are more Drama like this coming out soon. Love it, will definitely watch again.

perfectttt! i admit, this drama was a bit slow in the beginning and i've put this drama off after the first few episodes for a few months..and several times too! but i finally decided to just sit down and give this ddrama another chance..and im SO glad i did. i LOVE the chemistry between the two actors ( cha seung won = loveeee <3 ) and the acting was just superb. other dramas can't compare to this, for everything was bundled up nicely in this drama, while other dramas would leave out a few things or just not have the ending that viewers would hope for :D this is a must watch!

Nice, Fun It was slow in the beginning, Kim Sun Ah's character was a push over and at times whiny. I like Kim Sun Ah a lot in My Lovely Samsoon and When its at Night. I stuck it out and was glad I did. It got intense and the chemistry between the two lead characters amazing. Gave me an idea of how possibly Korean Politics are, politics in general, corruption, bribery.

nice The first 10 episodes were nice, and the last episode. Love Kim Suna's comedic timing. The guy was handsome, a man's man. Finally, a good ending.

So Sweet I love drama's that keep the tears flowing and the laughter going. This was so hilarious and touching. Why does the lead actor remind me of Johnny Depp?

fun, fun and fun it was slow in the beginning. In fact it was too slow for me, so I stopped for a few weeks, but I liked Kim Sun Ah in other series so much that I gave it another try. I am glad I did. The chemistry between the two lead actors were great, and also, the series gave me a glimpse what the Korean politics are like and what they dream it may become. Highly recommend it.

Kim Sun Ah and Cha Seung Won so good Okay, I love Kim Sun Ah, but the first few eps, I just couldn't get into her or the series, but I kept going and it was totally worth it. This series definitely had a slow start and lost its way at times, but Kim Sun Ah and Cha Seung Won were great, had amazing chemistry and really saved this series for me. Plus, I'll try not to make this a spoiler, but finally a k drama with the ending you wish they all would give you. Total payoff. worth it for that alone.
