Lovers starring Kim Jung Eun, Lee Seo Jin and Kim Kyu Ri
Drama veterans Kim Jung Eun and Lee Seo Jin (Yi San, Damo) lead this tie-in to to Jung Eun's earlier drama hit Lovers in Paris, the third in a trilogy of dramas.
Yoon Mi Joo (Kim Jung Eun) is a poor plastic surgeon struggling to support her family and her father's orphanage on her meager salary. Ha Kang Jae (Lee Seo Jin) is a mob leader whose world crashing down around him when he finds out that his long-term girlfriend, Park Yu Jin (Kim Kyu Ri) is pregnant. Reluctantly taking responsibility for the baby, he meets Mi Joo on the street one day and discovers that she is Yu Jin's neighbor. Mi Joo meanwhile mistakes Kang Jae as her good-for-nothing brother in law and impresses him with her feisty attitude.
When she saves Kang Jae's life after he's stabbed in an attack, the two are thrown together, and slowly Mi Joo begins to thaw Kang Jae's heart - a heart unused to love after he grew up an orphan. Kang Sae Yoon (Jung Chan), however, the son of Kang Jae's mob boss and his perpetual rival, is also in love with Mi Joo...

From the title of the drama, I didn't expect it to have much fighting/action that it had but I enjoyed it. I didn't know that Kim Nam Gil was in this drama so when I first saw him I had to do a double take, I loved his character San, a great fighter, trustworthy and sexy! I didn't particularly like the ending, I thought it could have been written better so that's why the 3 stars.
This show was so very good, but the last two episodes sucked!!! There was only one scence in the last episode--a brotherly greeting that I really liked. Other than that, I have to wonder how a show that began with a bang, end with a RUSHED thump. You will enjoy the first 18 episodes, then you just ask, why????
Also Kang who knew how to manage people would know how tho run a company successfully. His brother who had never held a job before would not. I wish the writers had thought some of this through.
Typical over-exaggeration. When the father dies and Kang Jae and Syeon finally come together as siblings, its very touching. But its after a guy runs in and announces Kang's gang is getting trounced. WHERE? He says in front of the hospital, that's bad enough, but about 100 guys, in black, with clubs are FIGHTING IN THE HOSPITAL LOBBY, w/NO SIGN OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OR HOSPITAL STAFF, Ridiculous.I was laughing myself silly. It went from bad to worse & the ending was gosh-awful. It became life imitating art two years after, at least the part where LSJ breaks up with KJE out of the blue. LSJ was definitely playing himself in that scene. And why was KJE wearing her grandmother's clothes, why did Syeon look the same age as his parents, old?
I can't say enough good things about this amazing drama. Top notch acting, compelling characters, consequences to the decisions we make, betrayal, secrets, intense sexual tension, and love so deep between the two leads, it's just--WOW! Some elements are bittersweet, and the ending can definitely be better. Overall , I highly recommend Lovers. It'll get your attention and maintain it throughout.
This was a pretty decent drama. I love the Gangster story line, it was done very well. The Karate fight scenes were also full of action, and looking at Lee Seo Jin dimples was definitely worth it I loved his charcter and he was very believable in his role as a Gangster. I also liked the characters, San and Sang Taek. But I didn't care for Kim Jung Eun acting, she always has a mug looking, wild eyes expressions on her face that just annoys me. She wore the same expression in "I Am Legend. I guess it's just her look...
you need to belong to the mature audience to love and connect to this Kdrama series. i seldom give a 5...but "lovers" captivated me from the beginning to end. love the acting...the script may not be perfect but the entire cast did a terrific job in their performance. i watched this drama because of seo jin who did a great performance in "yi san". OMG....if i could only have that once kiss :-)
This Kdrama had me captivated from beginning to end. The emotional range of the lead actress gave me goose bumps. Never have I seen such heartfelt emotion pouring of the screen. She is someone definitely to watch in the future. Personally, I can see her paired with anyone in this drama and still I would come away from it breathless. Taking nothing away from the supporting cast, who also did a wonderful job making this drama by far one of my favorites
wonderful drama, so funny , loved how the story developed. Didn't like the ending. either his father or best friend should have died, not both. He also got stuck being the mob boss because of the deaths, so he got trapped. It left me heartbroken, I needed him to escape. it haunted me for days. I love the main leads an Sam so much. Would have liked a party two to make me feel better. Overall, one of the best drama I've ever watched.
