Money War starring Park Shin Yang and Park Jin Hee

Money War is a high-profile drama which was a sensation in 2007, hitting a highly unusual 23% in its second episode and maintaining over 30% ratings from its 6th episode all the way to the finale. Park Shin Yang, hugely popular for successful dramas Lovers in Paris and Painter of the Wind, stars as a man whose life is money then loses his life to money. Park Jin Hee (Come Back, Soon Ae), Kim Jung Hwa (Snow White), and Shin Dong Wook (Soulmate) co-star.

Investment banker Geum Na Ra (Park Shin Yang) has it all -- a loving family, a beautiful girlfriend, and a successful job. But on his sister's wedding day, loan sharks crash the event, and he discovers that their father has amassed a lifetime's worth of debts. His father runs away, hoping that his disappearance will solve their problems, but the loan sharks move into the house instead, and his mother collapses from the pressure.

Forced to declare bankruptcy and with his mother in need of surgery, Na Ra turns in desperation to his rich girlfriend, Lee Cha Yeon (Kim Jung Hwa) for help. She willingly agrees to help, but her grandmother, deciding to test him, offers him money only in exchange for leaving her granddaughter. When Na Ra, left with no choice, agrees, the grandmother in a rage tips off the debt collectors after giving him the money...

Good actors in a bad drama. Waste of time.

Acting was great. But whoever wrote this drama must get a kick out of dis-appointing people. If you don't want to be cursing at your screen then do not watch this drama. You have been warned.

I dont care what other people say about the ending, I haven't gotten there yet, but this drama has three things that make a drama excellent. 1. Gripping, unique story. 2. Good directing. And 3. The awesome actor that is Park Shin Yang. He is one of the best actors I have seen in dramas. Must watch!

I enjoyed the storyline very much and the characters. The ending was extremely unexpected and depressing. It left me feeling down for a long time. This is the 3rd Park Shin Yang drama I have watched with a sad ending ("Sign' and 'Painter of the Wind' were the other two). I'd think it would be hard to act in a drama knowing your character would be killed off at the end or have a sad end. He is a great actor and enjoyable to watch--very versatile.

Absolutely love Park Shin Yang. Such a completely different role that he played in Signs. Which I loved by the way. Park Jin Hee is adorable. Will have to look up some of her movies. I wouldn't say it's a much watch, but it is pretty good. Liked the story line, but didn't care for the ending.

Up to Episode 16, you will not be disappointed. Those episodes aren't predictable, and good writing and acting. The bonus episodes have the same two leads, but the other characters are not consisted as the first 16...so it's hard to really follow. Do yourself a favor and just don't go past episode 16 or start at 17 and go to 20.
