Shining Inheritance starring Han Hyo Joo and Lee Seung Ki

Go Eun Sung (Han Hyo Joo) leads a charmed life. Her wealthy, adoring father allows her to live her dreams of studying abroad, and the only difficulty in her life is her younger brothers struggle with autism. Despite all this good fortune, everything changes for Eun Sang when her loving father dies of mysterious circumstances.

After the family discovers that Eun Sang's father left behind a huge number of debts, her stepmother promptly throws her and her brother out of the house. Homeless and penniless, Eun Sung takes a job as a waitress at a nightclub to support herself and her brother. Eun Sung hits rock bottom when her brother disappears. Her fortunes turn, however when her kindness lands her a new lucrative job and a new family of sorts, which leads to new fortune, but also new drama. Well-acted, written, and directed, Shining Inheritance is a great example of what can happen when K-drama conventions are done right.

This drama could have been more intense, packed into 14 episodes. The whole thing dragged on for far too long. It was heartwarming, but not particularly moving. I was not impressed especially when comparing it to other dramas such as Thank You, Padam Padam, Road Number One ... You would not miss much if you skipped it.

I appreciated the later story of worker/shareholders organizing to save their company; a small, business run by a single mom (Grandma, wonderful actress Ban Hyo Jeong) who never forgot that the company was not hers, but the workers’, and preferred small success to corporate greed. And the final inheritors of the company. Truly a "brilliant legacy". But just that inclusion of workers giving what little they had to maintain their company’s identity was uplifting enough. Kim Mi Suk as Evil Stepmom portrays an intriguing and “cool” villain. She’s no irrational, screeching banchee, but an elegant, detached lady convinced she’s just acting with common sense to insure her daughter’s future (Moon Chae Won never disappoints me!) Predictable, INFURIATING romance just proves love is deaf, dumb, blind, insane and sick. Each time he dragged her by the wrists she should've kicked him in the shin!

i liked the idea of this drama, i always like a nice little cinderella story but this drama is just too much and drags on and on, theres no reason for it to be so long when all those eps are just pointless. There are also parts where it just gets too UNREALISTIC, i mean ive watched my fair share of good dramas and in my opnon, thiis is just a typical drama where u can predict what happens and really in reality its not even that great. I guess you can say i just stuck around for the hotties lol if you want a good drama that will keep you happy, intrested, and in suspense go watch something like rooftop prince or boys over flowers! :)

So far, so good. The step-mom is a liar, and a backstabber. When will she learn to stop playing with peoples lives? Just cause her life's ruined, doesn't mean she can fool around with other peoples businesses. Although I'm still far away from the ending, Ireally like this drama. The twists and turns makes me want to watch till the end. Overall, I LOVE IT :DDD

Second time watching this one! At first it starts of slow and seems a bit boring, but it will eventually grow on you. It seemed like the two leads did lack chemistry, but it was nice to see them grow together in their relationship as they went through things. Everyone got what was coming to them in this drama, it didn't lack in anyway and had a good ending!

This was entertaining. It's just I felt the chemistry btwn the two main ones lacked a bit, and found the other guy more suited chemistry wise. The two also played in dong yi and in that show I also felt there was a stronger chemistry between them than her and the king. I hope they play as lovers in a drama. It's the stereotype kdrama, I liked it, but didn't feel like the two characters really developed to be together. Not sure what lacked for me.

I don't know how they did it, but I found myself rooting for Hwan at some point in this drama. He completely redeemed himself; the effort he put into showing his love for Eun Sung and his grandmother completely won me over. Great acting all around...the good guys are really good and the bad guys are despicable. Sung Hee's malice was too much for me to take at times, but it heightened the stakes and added depth to this drama. Like other solid K-dramas, you can expect a lot of great one-liners and insights into the human condition/what motivates people. Although there are truly heartbreaking moments, this is ultimately a feel-good drama, unlike others that ruin an otherwise good plot by a depressing ending. Overall, a 5/5 rating for an unforgettable story. Watch this!!
