Tazza starring Jang Hyuk, Han Ye Seul, and Kim Min Joon

Tazza (also known as War Of Flowers) is the second installment in SBS's trilogy of dramas based on the work of popular cartoonist Huh Young Man (the others being Gourmet and I Love You). Headed by a high-profile cast including Jang Hyuk (Thank You, Robbers), Han Ye Seul (Couple or Trouble), and Kim Min Joon (Friend, Our Legend), it drew solid ratings and pulled in four awards at the 2008 SBS Drama awards.

When Kim Go Ni's father, a small-time gambler, dies after losing his family's savings at the hands of Ah Gwi (Kim Gab Soo), a notorious and feared gambler, his last words to his son are "Always win." Some years later, and Go Ni is a teenage delinquent ready to gamble on anything that comes his way. When he meets Young Min (Kim Min Joon) in a pool house brawl, the two become best friends and fellow troublemakers. Go Ni later introduces Young-min to his girlfriend and childhood sweetheart, Nan Sook (Han Ye Seul), but the three are quickly torn apart when Go Ni takes off on his own, leaving behind, Nan Sook and Young Min to be seized by gamblers for their debt.

Years later, Go Ni is apprenticed to a master tazza, or cardshark. Meanwhile Nan Sook is prisoner to a gambling ring led by Ah Gwi, forced to use her beauty and skill to ensnare men for Ah Gwi's purposes where Young Min has become Ah Gwi's right-hand man. When the three meet again, secrets, lies, and deceptions swirl together in this world of high-stakes gambling where lives are bet on a roll of the dice.

This series is okay. I don't find myself deeply intrigued by this drama. It does give good insight into the world of gambling and con-artist. The only thing I find annoying is the gamblers who lost everything due to their compulsive addiction. They begin to place the blame on the "Tazza" that tricked them out of the money. Then want revenge because it is all "Tazzas" fault and not their own. Like the lead actor placing blame on one man who tricked him. Just completely forgetting that it was him who stole the hard earned money his mother worked hard to save. He made the choice to gamble and he knew the risk. But addicts always place the blame elsewhere, instead of themselves.

If you are a fan of Jang Hyuk, you want to see this; if you’re not then you must certainly see this. This blood pumping suspense drama does a great job depicting how the despicable darkness of gambling brings about unexpected detrimental choices that ultimately result in terribly agonizing pain. Jang Hyuk(Midas, Tree w/ deep roots, Chuno) delivered yet another stellar performance by playing a young rambunctious boy who, in a single instance of weakness, was blinded by his insatiable lust for money which unleashed a fury of misery and tragedy upon him and the people he cherishes the most. His costars Kim Min Joon and Kim Gab Soo were equally fantastic. Together those three give a spectacular showdown that ensues their gambling rivalry.

Based on a famous comic book, this drama has a bit of everything: suspense, action, romance, twists of fate!!! All the actors do a great job, and make their characters human and credible. Jang Hyuk is mercurial, funny and plays the angry young man to perfection, Kim Min Joon plays the morally torn man with soul, and Han Ye Seul showcases her many talents and versatility.

this drama is really entertaining after the 1st episode or two and i'm about half way through it. I do however hate the fact the nobody freaking takes responsibility for their own actions. Go Ni is constantly blaming someone else for lost money and time away from family when those were CHOICES he made. no one held a gun to his head to blow his mom's money or run away from home. other than that just enjoy the ride the story takes you on=).

It takes you through a roller coaster ride, especially in the last few episodes. And if you like Jan Hyuk, it's more a reason to watch this.

Once I learned it was based on a famous comic, as I watched, I could make the connections. Watching this drama unfold was like reading a special jumbo edition of your favorite comic book. I even started to understand the long pauses, the hair-dos, the tears - just like you would see in a comic book! Well done, kept the action going. I expecting the first underwater scene to be completed, but, no problem. I especially appreciate Go's job at the end.

I liked this drama for a few reasons. The first thing being that this seemed like a good book, a good page turner, easy to follow. The narrating/voice over at the end, not so much the beginning but the end was like a bullet of truth about gambling. I liked the fact that even though there were a about 15, give or take a few characters to follow, I didn't feel burdened by their stories. Nor did they feel random, the storyline never strayed to far from the three leads. One thing I didn't like, I was always waiting for the segue back from when he jumped into the water. Maybe I accidentally missed a scene but that irked me and kept me waiting for the segue back. Overall, this was fun to watch, loved the way things turned out after the last game.
