White Lies starring Shin Eun Gyung, Kim Yoo Suk, Im Ji Eun, Kim Tae Hyu, and Kim Hae Sook

Starting out strong with ratings that steadily climbed to remain over 20% for the last one-third of its broadcast, White Lies was a highly successful daily drama airing from Monday to Friday over the course of its 159 episodes. Film star Shin Eun Gyung (probably best known in the drama world for Bad Couple) and Kim Yoo Suk of Be Strong Geum Soon (soon to be seen in Dong Yi) head this strongly written, compelling drama about love, heartache and finding happiness in spite of betrayal.

Seo Eun Young (played by Shin Eun Gyung) and Kang Jung Woo (Kim Yoo Suk) are happily engaged, or so Eun Young thinks - until Jung Woo dumps her unexpectedly in order to marry a rich woman. Eun Young, alone and pregnant, is left behind as her ex-fiance and his new bride, Na Kyung, go abroad. Managing to get a job as a nurse at a hospital, she supports herself while five years go by.

Meanwhile, one of her patients, Kang Hyung Woo (Kim Tae Hyun of Tempation of an Angel) falls in love with her and whole-heartedly pursues her. With Hyung Woo's wealthy mother, a department store owner, in support of the match, Eun Young has no reason to refuse him beyond her memories of Jung Woo. But then Jung Woo suddenly returns, and Eun Young discovers that Hyung Woo is his half-brother... What happens in the end?

i should have checked the # of episodes it had before i started to watch it. i've been skipping around episodes for the most part like i might watch a couple then skip some. i had this thought about that mum trying to suffocate the dad with the pillow. it could have happened b/c i'm pretty sure i saw that in a show or a movie. it reminds me of this movie where the mom had Munchausen syndrome but this is so much worse i think. she'll hurt anybody to keep them away from her son even if it hurts him.

I don't care what anyone says. I love this drama. Yes...it's very long, but worth watching. I guess you have to experience some of these things in real life to understand. Though a lot of these situations don't happen everyday, they do happen to some people. I'm only half way through the drama and love every part. The characters are great. The acting is phenomenon.

Reviews or opinions are always subjective, but the title should have been: Whiny divorced bimbo has abused spouse syndrome. The husband betrays, abuses his wife/exwife and child by extension and that about covers all of the important parts. They should have done it in about eight one hour episodes if they had to do it at all. It is true that abused spouses, who are generally women often stay in abusive relationships or return to the abuser. But this women was portrayed as kind and loyal being the reason and it makes it very unrealistic and unconvincing. I just wanted to tell her to shut up after a while The little bit of reasonableness couldn't up my rating because of the overwhelming and unrealistic stupidity I skimmed a lot,but I feel like I wasted hours of my life I can never get back. It reminded me of those old Bollywood melodramas ( they have made huge strides comparatively) made many years ago 1/5 seems a bit high overall.

This was a very emotional drama about parental love and how loving your child too much can do more harm than good. Being a parent of a disabled child myself I could relate a little to Madam Shin. I really liked it but I hated the ending. They could have at least tacked on a little bit about what happened to Eun-Young's family.

Kim Hye Ok and Jim Hae Sook deserve an Academy Award for their roles in this drama. The people in this drama have so many secrets and tell so many lies that I expect the secrets and lies to come back and bite them square in the ass. Tae Hyun (as Kang Hung Woo) is one hell of an actor. It's amazing the transformation he goes through beginning with the Episodes in the 80's. His character is changing and so are is face expressions and the gleam in his eyes. This actor is a diamond in the ruff. . Don't forget that Kang Jung Woo's wife is a ongoing piece of work. Such a lucky guy? Absolutely outstanding performances by Kim Hue Sook and Kim Tae Hyun.
