Endearing, heartbreaking, and romantic, Thank You is an extraordinarily beautiful and well-written drama by the outstanding writer of legendary dramas, A Love to Kill and Sorry I Love You. Featuring brilliant performances from the entire cast, particularly Jang Hyuk (Robbers, Tazza) as a burnt-out surgeon, Thank You achieved consistently high ratings during it's broadcast in 2007.
Dr. Min Ki Seo (Jang Hyuk) is a brilliant, successful surgeon, but when his girlfriend develops pancreatic cancer and dies suddenly, he cannot bare to continue with his career. Worried about his well-being, his mother sends him to work on a small island to recover where he meets a woman named Lee Young-Shin (Gong Hyo Jin of Hello My Teacher) who causes him to remember his lover's dying wish: to find a little girl who was accidently infected with the AIDS virus under her care and make amends. Low and behold the little girl appears before his eyes in the form of Young-Shin's daughter. Dr. Min soon becomes a large part of their lives, and the unlikely trio bands together to deal with this unfortunate illness and in turn, learn some valuable lessons from one another.

I'm just shaking my head and groaning my way through this wondering why so many potentially great Kdramas are destroyed by clunky, awkward, even stupid plot twists. This one particularly could have been sooo much better, if only. Sigh :-(
Words cannot describe how deeply moved I was after watching this drama. In between the doctor trying to make amends for her mistake and the geneorcity of spirit exemplified by both the mother and Dr. Min, surely renewed my faith in what is good in mankind. The self sacrifice Lee Young Shin made to shield her daughter from the ugliness of reality while preserving her innocence via leading by example made this heroine sympathetic and endearing. Although Young Shin's daughter has the disease, she in effect heals Dr Min of his sorrow through the gift of love. Five stars all around. I highly recommend watching this drama.
Jang Hyuk is one of the most inspiring Korean actors of present time. So believable is his acting that his characters come to life. Producers: please make more Jang Hyuk dramas and movies!
Lyrical and well written, this show touched my heart. I love Jang Hyuk's performance as the tortured doctor and Shin Goo seems to be enjoying himself playing the grandfather suffering from dementia- just delightful. I love how the mom has created a life for her child in difficult circumstances. Seo Shin Ae's performance is of award-winning caliber. This being said, about the story itself, I can't help but wonder how 2 incompetent medical personnel end up at the same clinic? One would be funny. Both are just painful. I'm happy their writer have them improve their performance by the end.
So beautifully told, and directed. All the actors were exceptional. It was a tremendous joy seeing this, I could not stop watching it. Thanks to Lee Jae-Dong, the cast and the crew for this gift, THANK YOU. Needless to say that I am still in love with Jang Huyk.
This drama was well acted by everybody from the young girl to the old man. Because of this drama, I had to search for more Jang Hyuk dramas - he is a consistently great actor - watch him in Chuno and you'll find out what I mean. The storyline is heart-rending and moving - a tearjerker so keep your box of tissue handy.
By far the best Korean drama I have seen. Lots of tears and laughter. I have watched this series four times now. This is Jang Hyuk best acting to date. He nailed the performance. Fighting........
Of the dozens of dramas I've seen, none has touched my heart more than this.Performances given by the two leads are truly outstanding & easily the best of each one's career.Veteran actor Shin Goo, shows his skill and experience to the utmost, but, the "straw that stirs the drink" is the adorable, precocious, & unbelievably convincing roll played by then 8 yr old actress,Seo Shin Ae as 'Lee Bom'.She goes toe to toe with each of these seasoned pros and completely owns every scene that includes her.Anyone with a beating heart will be moved to tears of sadness, pity,& shear joy by this story of unconditional love between a young unwed mom and her small family who work miracles to melt the hearts of all whom they come into contact.Do yourself a favor and invest the time it takes to watch each and every episode of this emotionally moving and ultimately uplifting drama.Bring plenty of tissue & also be 4warned that, by it's end, you may find yourself with a greater appreciation for life & the lives of those around you...
