Sad Love Story Starring Kwon Sang Woo, Kim Hee Sun, and Yun Jung Hoon
Sad Love Story is a somber drama about two people who are deeply in love and the struggles they go through as fate throws one obstacle after another to keep them separate. Joon Young (Kwon Sang Woo) and Hae In (Kim Hee Sun) loved each other dearly since childhood when he would often fight the bullies who tormented him because he was fatherless and his mother worked in the red light district, and Hae In because she was a blind orphan. Hae In had lost both her parents when she was very little and was raised by her aunt who was an entertainer in sketchy nightclubs. Fate separates them as Hae In moves with her aunt to live in New York. While there, Hae In was falsely led to believe that Joon Young died and becomes distraught with grief, and shortly thereafter, meets Gun Woo who happened to be Joon Young’s best friend studying in the US. None of them knew of this fact until it was too late because Gun Woo knew Joon Young by a different name, Joon Kyu. Gun Woo pays for the surgery to restore Hae In’s sight and helps her launch a successful singing career, and they return to Korean as a couple. Then life gets pretty complicated for these three as the drama unfolds into an emotional rollercoaster.
Sad Love Story has many of the elements that make Korean dramas so enjoyable – convincing actors, storyline that keeps you on the edge for more, and of course, lots of melodramatic moments. As the title would suggest, this is a really sad story so keep that box of Kleenex nearby as you watch this. Enjoy!
Also known as Sad Love Song or Sad Sonata. Visit our friends at Drama Wiki and Hancinema for additional information about this drama.
I love this show. It was so sad as well and had me crying forever. You have to see it to understand the love and the story. Very touching. Please put this one on soon!!
Perhaps my ultimate favorite (melodrama) Kdrama EVER! From its story, the acting, the scenery (fall-winter theme), the chemistry, the soundtrack... EVERYTHING! Of course, you shouldn't get your hopes too high before watching any drama but I absolutely fell in love with this drama and its characters from the get-go. Even the young actors were very promising (Yoo Seung Ho & Kim So Eun). Okay, fine. The storyline may BE unrealistic to a certain extent but it IS a drama so what do you expect? Want realistic, watch a documentary! To those who are still debating, all you need to know it stars Kwon Sang Woo & Kim Hee Sun and it's about two people's journey through friendship, heartbreaks, separation, and of course, LOVE. Not only will you grow to love and sympathize with the three lead characters, you'l also learn to appreciate the soundtrack--it is simply amazing! MY RATING: A+ Highly recommended for those who loves romance, angst, but most of all, a worthwhile drama with depth and the right kind of intensity!
I have viewed dvd for 2 nights and 1 day. I really, really love this. Story is nicer than Winter Sonata. Kwon Sang Woo, you are so good actor and his lading lady a super actress. The casts were so great, did the best acts.
OMG I don't think I've ever cried this much during a drama! It was fantastic..... well acted, well casted, well scripted.... Kwon Sang Woo has the most incredibly expressive eyes i've ever seen in a human being. His ability to protray so many different emotions within the span of a few seconds is absolutely uncanny.
This one of the saddest Korea Drama that I ever see. It makes me cry and think of how sad life can be. Like that said, "Love Conquers All" and this drama is definitely an example of this phrase. As I watched this drama... I kept think to myself that it will be a happy ending. However, at the end...it is not a happy ending. How can the producer and the writer of this drama made it like this? Anyway...it is great movie!!!! I recommend it to all the lover out there in this world to watch and please show your love to your lover and let them know how much you love him or her before it is too late to let them know.
Good luck to you all.
This has got to be one of my favorite if not most favorite korean dramas. Definite tearjerker-make sure to have tissue next to you through every episode!
This is what opened the doors to the K drama world. I loved this drama so much. Yes it fit the typical sad K drama outlines, but who cares. I watch this and it makes me cry every time.
