Dong Yi starring Han Hyo Joo, Ji Jin Hee, Bae Soo Bin, and Lee So Yeon

The veteran director of classic "Jewel In the Palace" and wildly popular "Yi San" returns with another historical epic in this tale of a young commoner who rises to become the king's concubine and bear him the heir to the throne.

Dong Yi (Han Hyo Joo) is orphaned at a young age when her father and brother are unjustly executed. She is watched over by Cha Chun Soo, a friend of her brother's who promised to look out for her. Naturally kind and gentle, she gains a position as a maid at the palace, where she quickly wins favor, particularly from the queen. When the queen falls ill, Dong Yi cares for her, and her kindness brings her to the king's attention. When the queen dies mysteriously, Dong Yi becomes the royal concubine, shining brilliantly in the court.

As Lady Choi Sook-bin, she bears the king a son while struggling to survive and maintain her position in the tumultuous court life. She strives to raise her son well so he becomes someone worthy of the throne.

How many women does the king need. One women is hard to handle but three is a little too much. One rotten apple spoils the whole bunch. It just takes one to start trouble amongst the three. The Queens still plotting while her tree is falling, what an idiot. I'm really enjoying this drama poor Dong Yi everyone's trying to kill her. It kind of makes you feel unwanted.

I know it's a show about the romance between her and the king.. But I really love Chun Soo... All of the supporting actors are really good. I think I just really love the whole super manly yet sweet and sensitive thing, so much more impressive than royalty.

I've been watching Dong Yi since it's airing. It's been almost two years now but I am still watching this over and over again! The more I keep watching, the more attached I am. It's filled with lessons, actions, intrigue and of course, Dong Yi has offered us a glimpse of life then. She is one extraordinary woman!

Good intentions you will reap good fruits. True kindness comes from the heart that does the right thing. It also shows that a person has to value life more than political affiliations. The right greed, if there's such a thing, is to come up with a win-win situation for all parties involved, without compromising right values. While in real life there will always be people motivated by selfish ambition, this drama shows that there are still some people who will not be bought by convenience, power, or money. Their joy is to exercise true justice, help those who are wrongly accused, and sometimes give second chances to those who committed wrong. I also witnessed the importance of the right advice to those who hold power. If all leaders of our nation have just advicers, our world would be a better place to live in. If this story is taken from manuscripts about DongYi, the mother of the 21st king of Joseon era, then i salute Dong Yi for raising up a great king, thought imperfect, but still worthy of praise.

I loved the young Dong Yi and enjoyed watching the adult one solve all the mysteries. The acting was excellent and the drama has a heart. I agree that I would have enjoyed a savvier and stronger king. I enjoy long historical dramas but I did not think this story warranted so many episodes so therefore it became a bit repetitious and long winded even though I did mostly enjoy it.

(Sorry I can not write my comments in English. I read it very well but not much to write.) Gracias por subir series tan amenas (Thanks for uploading so entertaining series)
