Goong starring Yoon Eun Hye and Joo Ji Hoon

An instant classic upon its broadcast in 2006, this is perhaps Korea's most famous re-telling of the Cinderella story. When a plucky poor girl is engaged to the country's arrogant Crown Prince, will true love result? Airing to ratings of almost 30%, Goong, also known as Palace or Princess Hours, propelled both of its almost unknown leads to superstardom, and redefined Korean dramas with its high-budget sets, beautiful cinematography, and young, charming cast, as well as its boldly imaginative premise. Utterly compelling and addicting, Goong is a refreshing blend of the inner workings of royal life, youthful romance, and endearing comedy.

In an imaginary world, modern-day Korea is run by a constitutional monarchy which is facing crumbling popularity and power after the recent death of the reigning King. In a move to shore up their status and restore confidence in their ability to rule, the Royal Family decides to marry off the Crown Prince, Lee Shin (Joo Ji Hoon) prior to his ascension to the throne. To their horror, however, they discover that the dead King's father, Shin's grandfather, had before his death made a pact with a commoner that they would marry their grandchildren to each other, and that Shin is for all intents and purposes betrothed to a girl neither he nor they has ever met. The intended bride?

Headstrong, klutzy, poor-girl Shin Chae Kyung (Yoon Eun Hye), who comes from an average family and is attending high school oblivious to the fact that she's engaged to the country's Crown Prince. Her life is about to change forever, however, as the Royal Family swoops in and carries her off to the palace for princess training. Haughty, arrogant Prince Shin has no intention of making things easy for his commoner fiance, however, especially as he's half in love with childhood friend Min Hyo-Rin, and Chae Kyung soon finds her work cut out for her in adapting to palace life and trying to please the Royal family.

Her optimistic and upbeat spirit however capture the attention of Lee Yul (Kim Jeong Hoon), the other contender for the throne who returns to Korea after 14 years in England, and who, in trying to sway the Crown Princess in order to undermine the Prince, finds himself falling in love with her for real. Among the plots, deceptions, and expectations swirling around them, can the Royal couple see each other for who they are, overcome their differences, and fall in love?

I fell in love!! I just fell in love with this drama .. and especially the three main characters, Chae Kyung, Shin, and Yool. I just felt so bad for Yool, I was kinda sorta rooting for him (a llil bit ^.^) .. but Shin and Chae Kyung were just perfect for each other. I completely loved it and I'll never forget it .. those two just made a place in my heart lol.

Yes! The best line in this movie: "All I wanted was your beaming smile even if I became a shabby farmer." This movie is a complete 360 of Yoon Eun Hye compared to her role in Coffee Prince. I have to say, at some parts, it was kind of slow but overall, it is a great movie. Was I the only one that was rooting for the Royal Prince the whole time- even to the very end? It made me so mad that the Crown Princess was so weak in character! Hahaaa.. I love it! Definitely one the best so far.

time well spent this drama was very entertaining. I found the main actors to be cute together. the only thing I did not like was that so many subs were missing! and I'm experiencing problems with each episode stopping! I finally had to complained to DRAMAFEVER. I actually had to go to DRAMACRAZY to watch some of the missing subs and I'm a PREMIUM member here! anyway, I recommend this one if you, like me, loved BOYS OVER FLOWERS, you will love this one too.

Yoon Eun Hye This is the second one for Yoon Eun Hye that I've watched and she's becoming my fave actress ... I loved the ending way to go on it :-D .... funny thing is you don't really know if they had another "night" together or not though ... that's the only weird thing ... I love goong though and I will watch it again :-P

Its great~ This is a really great drama, I loved it. The characters were really good, the story was very interesting. I remember that the beginning is a little slow but it sure picks up! I was expecting more from the ending too, I'm glad they ended up together hehehe (spoiler- how I love that he actually asked her to marry him for real! but eh she has a baby? It was just eh- the ending felt like it was missing several scenes) Anyways but it is worth watching I reccoment it~
