Ja Myung Go starring Jung Ryeo Won, Park Min Young, and Jung Kyung Ho

Based on a famous tale of Korean folklore, the drama tells the story of Princess Nak Rang of the Nangnang Kingdom and Prince Hodong of the Goguryeo Kingdom. It gives a twist to the legendary story by focusing on Nak Rang's older sister, Ja Myung Go, imagining her as the literal representation of a magical drum which sounds on its own when enemies invade.

Two princesses, half-sisters, are born on the same day in the Kingdom of Nangnang. An oracle foretells that one princess will become the nation's savior while the other will destroy it. The mother of one princess successfully sets up her daughter as the savior princess, labeling the other, Ja Myung, as the destroyer. Ja Myung's mother barely saves her life by smuggling her to a remote province where she grows up with no knowledge of her true identity, until one day when she meets a Prince…

I got to admit, I had my doubts when I committed myself to watching this series. Most dramas this long usually start off entertaining then dissapoint you as you near the end. Not this, the Queen mothers from both kingdoms made this story come alive. I've never seen so much scheming underhanded methods to stay in power, all committed by women. You will find that the prince's cold, calculating and souless nature was born from a sociopathic step mother and psychotic father. His attempt at any meaningful relationship with either princesses was doomed from the start. This drama did well to show that loving such a person would only end in heartache and disaster as evidenced by the collapse of a Kingdom. This drama will make you anxious, sad, fustrated and mad all culminating in one of the best endings I've seen in a HKsaga. A must see.

I found the drama interesting. Disappointed in the ending, I guess evil does sometimes win out in the end. It's a good watch though.

i wanted to like this, it looks pretty. i like jung ryeo won and was mainly watching because of her but the story moves soooo slowly. i will probably come back to it after i've watched every other drama i want to see, but will that ever happen? there are so many better ones than this. the concept of the story is interesting but i think they didn't write it well. it's a shame

This is a wonderful story with a great ending. This is the only historical drama I have watched repeatedly! This drama does start out a bit slow, but man does it have a wonderful, not typical k-drama ending! That's what made me love this drama even more. It wasn't an ending that was expected. If you have time, I recommend this drama!
