Today's best Korean actors and Japanese writers collaborate for the Telecinema film series. After being released in theaters in Japan, aired on TV in Korea, DramaFever proudly brings you Paradise!
Kim Ha Neul (Road No. 1) stars as Mi Kyung, a woman recently released from prison who boards a boat for an island called Paradise after seeing it on a flier on a train. She meets a kind-hearted teacher (Ji Jin Hee), who accepts her despite her past, and she learns how to let love into her life again. But, after rescuing a student from making the same mistake that landed her in jail years ago, Mi Kyung finds herself once again in turmoil. Written by Okada Yoshikazu (Maison Ikkoku, Bambino) and directed by Lee Jang Soo (Stairway to Heaven, Shoot for the Star).

PARADISE is perfect — in story, direction, cinematography, acting and every other way. It is a story of salvation, focusing on a woman who has committed a misdeed she believes is unforgivable. Throughout, the pace is gentle. The main theme music, “Danny Boy,” fits the mood and theme of the film flawlessly.
A visual theme of seeds punctuates the story and the theme of rebirth. At first the “seeds” are snowflakes falling as the young woman is released from prison. On Paradise Island we see real flower seeds being thrown into the air, taken by the wind and scattered across the island. Fireworks at a celebration explode like bright seeds and herald a new time of hope and joy for the islanders. All involved in making this film deserve the highest praises. They have mastered their art.
Sometimes people deserve a second chance. You cannot help but feel for the characters. This is like the 3rd movie I've seen with Kim Ha Neul. She is definitely a wonderful actress who portrays her characters well. I thought the child actor was actually more powerful. I find that to be the case in a lot of Korean dramas I've seen. Well done!
This was heart wrenching movie that follows the typical story line of a tortured Korean life. Though this genre has been told so many times before, this presentation was quite touching and believable. This was the first time I saw Kim Ha Neul's work and I was quite impressed with her ability to bring her character to life. Ji Jin Hee is good in his early work and gets even better in his current work.
I give the script and story 5 stars, the acting 5 stars, and the overall project 4 stars (because this genre is just beat to death!).
The veteran director of classics Jewel In the Palace and wildly popular Yi San returns with another historical epic in this tale of a young commoner who rises to become the king's concubine.
Ji Sung and Yum Jung Ah star as two outsiders who find themselves caught in the dark side of Korea's upper class, and fight their way out with the power of love.
Chun Jung Myung and Lee Sang Yoon star in this 2011 sageuk hit about two opposite men from different classes who fall in love with the same woman, only to find they were switched at birth.
Mystery, romance, and conspiracies come together in this rich historical drama about the King who created the Korean alphabet, and the shadowy group trying to kill him.
