Turn It Up To 11

A DramaFever Exclusive

Go behind the scenes of the indie rock scene in Korea with award-winning, hard-hitting rock & roll documentary, TURN IT UP TO 11. Get a candid look at the chaotic makings of the indie record label Ruby Salon Records and an intimate look at some of the edgiest indie rock bands in Korea today -- Galaxy Express and Tobacco Juice, whose drummer, Baek Seung-hwa, doubles as the director of TURN IT UP TO 11. This rockumentary film marks the first collaboration between DramaFever and DFSB Kollective, a creative artist agency representing Korea’s hottest urban and indie artists.

The hard rock band Galaxy Express truly shines in TURN IT UP TO 11. Their talent and determination to rock the charts get them booked at prestigious rock festivals across Korea and winning Musician of the Year for the 2011 Korean Music Awards. On the other end of the spectrum is Tobacco Juice, talented but lacking the hard work ethics of a band like Galaxy Express. One band will rise to stardom, while one band will have their talents go unrecognized.

SXSW Music 2011 performers Apollo 18 also make a brief appearance. Winners of the Korean Music Award "Newcomer of the Year", Apollo 18 has found fans on both sides of the Pacific.

TURN IT UP TO 11 is for mature audiences. Viewer discretion is advised.

This documentary brought Galaxy Express to the forefront for me. Once I learned about them coming to Austin for SXSW, I knew I had to see them. They're amazing live!

It's pretty inspiring to see a little indie label make it in the midst of overproduced K-pop. Tobacco Juice made me all nostalgic for the 90s punk scene. The running commentary from the director/slash bandmate was rather hilarious.

Thanks for the authentic slice of rock and roll. I wish I could catch them in NYC next weekend, but I be Chicago bound instead. Good thing their concert will be streamed live that night! ROCK ON!

Well worth the watch! A very intimate, informal look at the beginnings of 2 rock/punk bands and a rock label. The band members were really funny and personable. The funny thing is one of the bands in the film, Galaxy Express, is playing tonight and later this week in Austin (I live in Houston) at the SXSW music festival w/ the SeoulSonic tour. I thought the documentary was well directed too. Thanks DramaFever for putting this on here!!!!

Our simple lives are transformed into moments of clarity and inspiration when we hear the works that the great warriors of music put out. It is a great film and it goes to show that we must support our local talents because you never know when you will be in the presence of greatness. If you like the music, go to their shows, don't pirate videos or their music. Pay homage to their struggles by being loyal. To all these bands I wish you the brightest stars. KUDOS to the record executive who stood by these guys no matter how messed up they are. To the film maker...you have a bright future...keep bringing into the light the great work on small bands and like you said after all your nights are much more interesting than our "F*******, days..... ROCK ON KOREA
