Thorn Birds starring Han Hye Jin, Joo Sang Wook, and Kim Min Jung
An all-star cast lights up this drama about two strong women who clash and overcome incredible obstacles in their pursuit of happiness. This 20-episode drama adapts the old-school melodrama genre for a modern audience, in a bittersweet story of love and sorrow. Seo Jung Eun (Han Hye Jin) grew up an orphan and has struggled her whole life to survive. Now, she’s determined to make something of herself, hoping that if she becomes a famous star, she will be able to find her mother. Her old friend Han Yoo Kyung (Kim Min Jung) is equally determined to succeed, but unlike Jung Eun, she is ruthless and ambitious, and will do whatever it takes to get what she wants. Jung Eun pursuing acting, while Yoo Kyung becomes a film producer, and the two become rivals as they live their lives in opposite ways. Jung Eun is drawn to Young Jo (Joo Sang Wook), the heir of a conglomerate, who also grew up without a mother. Yoo Kyung sets out to seduce him, however, and as both women search for their birth mothers, they will wind up switching lives...
I had no expectations whatsoever when i started watching this one. No attachment to a character or even actor/actress. The only thing that intrigued me was how the main character dealt as a single mother, which is rarely portrayed well on Asian dramas.
Maybe it's the fact that after the 1st episode, i actually skipped to ep. 5, that made me not want to smack the heroine to get her to smarten up. It made me enjoy the characters self growth and watching the mother/daughter dynamic develop. Although the relationships are tangled up on the lies and drama, the actual romance is secondary, and develops slowly between the main characters.
I don't get the plot? the young actress has been destroyed, no career, no childhood lover, no baby by the guy she loves, no mother, her named stained--all for what? I mean why go to such lengths to destroy a gulliable girl. and she got away with destroying her and getting rid of her own baby-OMG she is the devil why is this happening to him? I think that devil girl put a wammy on him and that girl-both of them are having very bad luck---
i must be the only one who REALLY REALLY like this drama. no screaming mother in law, or poor girl from the wrong side of the tracks. it was a different story that i
really enjoyed. but i guess that's why people are different.
liked how Joo Sang Wook fell in love with Han Hye Jin and there was no looking back. really became a strong father husband figure,
This drama was ok, I only watched to see Joo Sang Wook (Yung Jo)...he is so HOT!! I'll watch him in anything.Having said that I still don't understand why she hated Seo jung eun. The plot was kind of thin and confusing. Mainly because the leading lady role again was played to be naive and confused and she was like that throughout the drama, she never really matured, it was only when she became ill that you saw a small change in her.
I was confused at the beginning. As I continued watching the episodes, i somehow knew that han yoo kyung was bad news and will destroy seo jung eun at any costs... i was like why do that?!?! jung eun didn't even do anything wrong! but i liked how the plot formed esp the awkwardness between jung eun and young jo ;)
I loved this drama. In the beginning i thought I wasn't going to like it because it sounded like seo jung was going to get bullied all thru out the entire drama but it actually was good that the first half the bad one was portrayed as a winner but then things switched. I loved how everything switched and ended good. The only thing I didnt like was that they made seo jung look weak once she was framed the first time and on. This was the best ending it left me completely filled not missing anything. I loved how the 3 brothers were together getting along.
Seo Jung Eun is one stupid B*^%# I can NOT feel the least bit sorry for her stupid actions! She was totally disgusting. It was a good Kdrama as Kdramas go. I have to keep watching I am on ep 5. I got past ep 5 and it turned out to be a pretty decent movie. The first several ep were really hard to get into but after the 6th or 7th one it got better.
The drama is not bad. I am currently watching it, but I could not play some episodes like 11, 12, 14 ...it's very frustrating! And I paid premium fee for that? I am very disappointed..
