Peninsula starring Hwang Jung Min and Kim Jung Eun

Viewer discretion is advised.

From the production company who brought the hit drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal comes Peninsula, a high-budget epic set in a futuristic time in which North and South Korea have unified. The blockbuster political drama has a budget of over 20 billion won (17 million dollars) and stars revered film actor Hwang Jung-min (A Bittersweet Life, Moby Dick), and Kim Jung-Eun (Lovers in Paris).

In a time somewhere in the future, North and South Korea have joined to form a unified Korean Peninsula. Suh Myung-Joon (Hwang Jeong-min) is the president of this newly-formed, fragile country. He strives to protect the alliance when the two sides begin a vicious battle over the country's natural resources. In this endeavour he's supported by his beautiful wife Lim Jin-Jae (Kim Jung-Eun), and finds a rival in NIS agent Kang Dong-Won (Ji Hoo).

One of the highest-budget series to air on Korean cable to date, Peninsula features CG effects and impressive action sequences.

I'm at epi 4 and considering to stop but after reading some encouraging comments here, I'll give it another episodes. One thing that disappointed me is the musics. Scenes and music don't go together at all, which makes me irritated. Let see how it does...

Somewhat of great drama, as I watched the ending, They need to make Part 2, Need to know how the President achieve the unification of both States in detail. I will be watching for the sequel, because it might be the prediction of what might be when in the immediate future of North and South Korea unites. Not the best K Drama but interesting in regard to the political aspects. Great cast of stars and well written.

I see several posts that say people are bored after the first or second episode. Stick with it, it gets really good. Story line is different but is sort of like the Bourne Identity series. Lost a good deal of sleep watching the last 6 or 7 episodes late into the night.

I don't know if I can finish this. When does it get better? I'm on episode 6 and I just can't go on So many people struggling with zero effort. Everyone in this drama seems to be way to beta...If you've seen Iris and Athena then don't watch this. I don't see how this drama is the highest budget drama

For a month or so, I stalled after watching 4 episodes... but I eventually went back, while waiting for K2H and I'm glad I did. Now, I don't know if it's a great kdrama for the price tag, but I do agree it was entertaining and I love the story line... but from the way they begun it, I wouldn't have guessed it was a political kdrama. Give it a chance with an open mind and there's a high chance you'd love it was well. UNIFIED KOREA, FIGHTING!!!

Kwak Hee Sung is a complete scene stealer. Any scene he's in he carries! The main leads are having their work cut out for them! Well done all!
