Merry Mary starring Lee Ha Na, Ji Hyun Woo, Lee Min Woo, and Wang Bit Na

From the director of 2007 hit Queen of Housewives and the writer of 2004 hit The Woman Who Wants to Marry comes Merry Mary, a joyous, endearing romp about two people who meet on a verbal battleground and end up falling in love. Lee Ha Na of Triple and Ji Hyun Woo of upcoming Birth of a Rich Man star as the bickering couple in this delightful romantic comedy.

Hwang Me Ri (played by Lee Ha Na), nicknamed Merry, dreams of becoming a musician as she works as a street vendor. Cheerful and optimistic despite the drudgery of her life, she works hard, and nothing disturbs her until Kang Dae Gu (Ji Hyun Woo), a poor novelist, moves into her neighborhood. Clashing from the moment they meet, the two keep their neighbors in an uproar as they embark on a no-holds-barred war of attack and defense.

Adding to the confusion is Seon Do Jin (Lee Min Woo), a straightlaced schoolteacher who was Me Ri's childhood crush and who feels sorry for her, and Lee So Ran (Wang Bit Na), a plastic beauty with her sights set on Dae Gu. Will Me Ri choose the man whom she has loved for years, Do Jin? Or will she recognize the romantic sparks flying underneath the insults and fights she exchanges with Dae Gu?

I originally came to watch this show because of Im Joo Eun, who plays the good daughter in this show. Lee Ha Na plays the quirky, yet funny lady who gets all the misfortune dump on her and overcomes them. Wang Bit Na plays the spoiled, rich girl to perfection. This show is quirky, funny and in a pleasant way, very enjoyable to watch. It's a great filler while waiting for new dramas to come online, but it is WORTH watching.

I would rate this higher but the lead character is so annoying to me, dishonest, selfish, self oriented, not talented (she can't really keep tune) and she seems to be so vain on top of that. Blames everyone else for every mistake and even when she takes responsibility within minutes she's back to blaming again. Actually this may be the first time ever watching a Korean drama I didn't want the protagonist to get the man.... he actually deserved better. Even now it seems she's suffering from a case of "jealousy" rather than love. I just can't stand her... okay, I got it out. The rich girl is so much better for him. Okay, maybe I spoke too soon about the antagonist girl..... way too soon. Interesting, overall I sort of liked it..... I did enjoy the two male leads best. The ending was sort of satisfactory to me even though it seemed rushed. I liked it better toward the end though.

I started watching this drama because I heard it was hilarious. I've made it through the first 3 episodes. It has had it's humorous moments, so I'm going to keep watching. I am having a really hard time with the lead actress. I find her habit of stealing from people (the musical ticket, the pizza) and demanding the lead guy sell her his food extremely off-putting. If they keep with this side of her character, I probably won't keep watching. I have noticed that in a lot of K dramas they use dishonesty or theft as a topic for humor. I personally don't find it funny. So for right now 3 stars.

I thoroughly enjoyed this comedy-drama. The characters are very unusual, as is the story. I found the female lead (Lee Ha Na) fun and endearing.. I recommend give it a try; if you are not hooked by end of second episode, then move on. But, my view, this deserves higher ratings than has been receiving. Fair warning - I am non-Korean, with Korean wife, both in our 60's, so we are probably not the typical demographic for Dramafever.

I'm not sure if I should even give it a one star! It's Christmas break, vegging out .... nope struggled through the first episode. I kept looking at the play time to see if it was almost over and I was barely at the midpoint... just not my kinda of drama. Laughed once and then was confused at what i was laughing at :P .. ridic! If you can get past the first episode, seriously paying attention, then it's for you. Good luck with it!

This drama was all over the place, there didn't seem to be one constant theme whatsoever but she sure made me laugh. I have to say I laughed in every single episode. If you like content this is not the drama for you but if you enjoy life and just want a few laughs this will fulfill your craving.
