This classic older drama stars Kim Ha Neul (On Air, 90 Days Falling in Love) and Go Soo (Green Rose, Will It Snow at Christmas?) in a tale of star-crossed love. Jo Jae Hyun (New Heart) and Jo In Sung (What Happened in Bali) also appear as supporting actors. Dark and compelling romance comes from the writer of hit 2010 drama Cinderella's Sister.
After discovering that he has an illegitimate son, Uhk Gwan (Jo Jae Hyun), a gangster, intends to abandon him, but is stopped when he is caught by the eye of a beautiful woman. Compelled to follow her, Uhk Gwan soon makes her his own, and the two are married and start a household with his son and her two children, Soo Ah (Kim Ha Neul) and Kyung Ho (Jo In Sung). His new bride, Hae Lim, has recently opened a piano school after being widowed by her first husband. Unfortunately Hae Lim dies shortly after, and Uhk Gwan is left to raise her two children as well as his son Jae Su (Go Soo). Problems arise when Jae Su and Soo Ah fall deeply in love, but have been raised as siblings. Both struggle with Kyung Ho, who grows into an angry rebel and eventually becomes a gangster like his father.
Don’t expect a great romance between Lee Soo Ah and Han Jae Su. Piano is more focused between the love of a father and his children. Just as in What Happened in Balli, Jo In Sung gives another great performance. I loved his relationship with his younger sister and his girlfriend. Another great performance came from Jo Jae Hyun. He's acting was really heartfelt. Supporting characters (mainly the ex-gangsters turned bakers) were great to watch and I rooted for them all the way. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in Han Jae Su's character. He was very weak and at times behaved strangely. Overall I felt that Piano was missing something but it did have its memorable moments including a beautiful & unforgettable ending.
Haneul is wonderfully beautiful in this drama. As the other yound woman in the drama tells her, men can't resist a beautiful young woman who is in deep mourning. Haneul portrays this mournful beauty perfectly.
This drama is different from the dramas I am use to watching, it's not the best or the worst I've seen. I liked the story of the father and how he turned his life around for the woman he loved and his struggles after she died. If your looking for romance, this drama is not for you but if your a parent, you will be able to relate to the story.
l could have given it a 5 stars but l didn't like the ending. the father didn't have to die. with all the twist and turns it's a good movie to watch. just get ready with a lot of tissues. l feel sorry to all of them. loving somebody too much is a bad thing, because no matter what it cost you will protect that love with your life even if it means death. sad but good.
This drama seems not realistic with its so unreal story, its weird characters' personalities (going to the extremes) & the ending not satisfying, so unreal like in a dream!:( but the best comes out of this is that the main leads are so good-looking: Go Soo, Kim Ha Neul, Jo In Sung & good acting & also the music's so beautiful!♥ Does anyone happen to know the title of the piano piece played in this drama, please tell me, I'm looking for it, thanks!:)
This was the first drama I ever watched. I was 9 years old and living in Hawaii, I was INSTANTLY hooked and have been watching dramas ever since. I am 22 now and rewatching it for the first time since. My 9 year old self found it a little more believable, but this is a classic in my opinion and every Korean drama fan should see it! Kim Ha Neul is still my favorite Korean actress and has been since I saw her in this role! The story is very emotional and everything a drama should be! I LOVE this drama and look forward to more dramas from the late '90s and early '00s, especially from KBFD!
a must watch!!!! i've been looking for this since i watched it long time ago but never could find...was soooo happy!!!! i'm gonna have to rewatch this!!!!! highly recommended!!
Gut wrenching and extreme. when it's intense...it's very INTENSE. When the characters are annoying, they're VERY annoying. There was very little middle ground in this drama. The anger was extremely angry. The violence was very violent. The loyalty was sacrificially loyal. The hate was deeply hateful. The love was everlasting love. Everything was to the extreme. But isn't that the very definition of DRAMA?
