When a petty gang member pretends to be a doctor in order to hide from the mob he left behind, he doesn't realize that this innocent deception will set him on the path towards love and redemption. Actor Jang Dong Geun and director Park Sung Soo of 2002 cult favorite and popular phenomenon Ruler of Your Own World reunite for this gripping drama.
Kang Dal-Go (Jang Dong Geun), a mid-level member of a Busan gang, gets kicked out of the gang after being investigated by the police and is forced to flee for his life. Hiding out in Seoul, he gets himself hired as a doctor at a nearby hospital, where he quickly clashes with Kim Yoo-Na (Han Ga In of Witch Amusement), a dedicated and outspoken doctor who criticizes his incompetence and lack of care. Gradually, however, the former gang member and the beautiful physician begin to fall in love in the mist of their clashes, to the dismay of prosecutor Suk Hee Jung (Lee Jong Hyuk of Green Rose) who is also pursuing Yoo-Na.
The mix is further complicated when Hee Jung begins to have suspicions about Dal-Go's background, and Dal-Go's past begins to catch up with him when his former gang members come looking for him. To make it even worse, it turns out that he may have had something to do with the death of Yoo-Na's brother in a gang killing. Dal-Go may want to start a new life having finally met a woman he's fallen in love with, but will his past allow him? And how will Yoo-Na react when she discovers the truth?
Also known as Dr. Gang. Visit our friends at Drama Wiki and Hancinema for additional information about this drama.
It was nice seeing a character that wasn't drop dead good looking being the lead for a change and Hang Ga is a wonderful actress.
It was an unlikely but believable story because of the excellent performance of the three leads.
Dalgo was a much different guy than you would ever expect given his history.
I watched this move to the end almost non-stop, I enjoyed every minute of it..I really liked that at the end, the Prosecutor, and Dalgo developed into friends, through Yuna. Each of the main protagonists was redeemed in some way- Yuna became more sensitive to others; the Prosecutor grew up; Dr Bong admitted his love in a roundabout way- to a lesser extent, Dalgo's Mum became more confident, the Lawyer who represented criminals found a new love and changed the direction of his career..a story well done with a very nice ending,
I thought all of the characters were extremely realistic and
I really liked this drama. It had a lot of dimensions to it and made you think about people's opportunities in life, while enjoying a delightful romance and wonderful comedic characters. The acting was wonderful too! My only complaint was that sometimes we could not see the subtitles and my Korean isn't good enough to truly understand the parts when that happened. Thank you!
It kept my interest from start to finish. The more I see of Kim Hye Ok, the more I like her and she was my favorite character in this drama. She does a wonderful job of showing a range of emotions and she's able to play different roles in a believable fashion. Of course Han Ga In is as wonderful in this as in everything else I've seen her in. Like Kim Hye Ok, she demonstrates a great deal of range with good delivery, emotional expression, and believable characters you can't help but care about. Yang Dong Geun's character is a bit exaggerated but remains enjoyable. I've come to expect it'll take two or three episodes for many kdrama's to settle in and this was no exception. Don't have a problem with the whole love-triangle thing... it's pretty much the norm and whether it works as a plot element depends on the writing and acting. I enjoyed the story and was satisfied with the outcome. I wish there were a way to rate it 3.5 stars because it's better than so-so but not quite up there with some of the best.
surrounded by harbor police, 2 guy's slide off the boat to get away --miles from the shore and they escape undetected? in a suit, surrounded by polce boat and be able to swim undetected and swim for miles in a suit---WHOAAAAAAAAAAA another korean super aquaman! sooooo unreal and stupid!! watched first 20 minutes of episode 1 and that is enough.....
The acting by Han Ga In made it seem real, but Yang Dong Geun's acting was spaced out. His issues seemed over acted and the gangsters were like a group of sissies.
Putting all this aside it was a great drama. I really enjoyed the story and its capture of real love. Even when it was against her best thoughts and feelings she loved him more than herself. Lust, attraction, circumstance, or position could not sway her from believing and holding firm to her love.
A lot of series get irritating with the whole, "love triangle" thing. I'm glad the main character got one person in mind & stuck to him. The whole game of love route just gets irritating. And I'm a sap for a good romance drama, especially one with a happy ending haha. I was looking for watching something quick, simple, and enjoyable. If you liked this drama you might also enjoy, "9 End 2 Outs". The only problem I had with watching this actually had to do with the DramaFever video player. The stream kept ending & the play button would appear allowing me to think the episode ended. It would have helped a lot if they actually included the end theme for every episode. Then I would have known if the episode was actually over or the player was messing up. It would have saved me the trouble of refreshing (which sometimes didn't work by the way) & going on to the next episode thinking the previous was over & finding myself skipping ahead because of the player's glitches. I never had a problem with DramaFever before.
