La Dolce Vita Starring Oh Yun Soo and Lee Dong Wook
Starring Lee Dong-Wook (My Girl, Partner), Oh Yun Soo (Jumong), and Park Si Yeon (A Man's Story), La Dolce Vita is a high-octane, dark melodrama about what happens when passions spin out of control.
When a man plunges to his death from a high-rise luxury apartment complex, retired detective Park Byeong-shik, is called in to investigate. He soon discovers that the man is a fugitive he'd pursued for years before leaving the force. As he begins to investigate what led up to this night, we flashback six months to where it all began...Yoon Hye-Jin and Ha Dong Won are unhappily married. When Hye-Jin discovers that her husband is having an affair, she flees to Japan and soon attracts the attention of handsome, mysterious Lee Joon Soo. Returning to Korea, Hye-Jin expects never to see Joon Soo again, but what she doesn't realize is her husband's mistress is Joon Soo's ex, and soon the fates of the four individuals are hopelessly entangled...

twisted story of love, anger and guilt...acting was flawless esp the main characters. but yeah i agree with a previous review..one should not watch this if you are depressed.
Awesome music. Intriguing storyline. Excellent main actors. But the story dragged in some areas making it difficult to finish... Could have been shorter without sacrificing character depth. I even skipped a few episodes and didn't feel like I missed much, but, the theme is so powerful that I had to rate this four stars. This series is at its best when the wife Hye Jin, the lover Joon Soo, and the husband Dong Won are interacting with each other...great stuff there. The last couple of episodes ripped into my soul and stayed with me.
This is a very different k drama, no one gets cancer or losses memory. I dont know if it was the director's choice but Lee Dong Wook's acting is over the top to my taste,Also his personal appearance for this drama is terrible, the mustache and that horrible haircut didn't help . Oh Yeon-Su is great also the rest of the cast.
The drama is very addictive, but it's too long with very repetitive scenes..Very modern story line, also It's nice to see a dog in a k series.
The ending is cheesy and too classic for a modern show like this. But i was not dissapointed.
Music very good..
This is drama is heartbreaking. First Lee Dong Wook drama and I wasn't disappointed. He did a great job in this drama. Can't wait to watch his other shows.
It was heartbreaking watching this tortured soul sink deeper and deeper into the abyss while seeing him teeter on the edge of sanity reaching for that lifeline, the love for Yoon Hye Jin to keep him afloat. My heart went out to the character Yoon Hye Jin who desperately searched for that tangible link to her happiness. This link, although short lived proved to be the strength she needed to take back control of her life. She in essence experienced a rebirth, an awakening which enabled her to take back that control she relinquished. I really loved this character played by the oh so beautiful and talented Oh Yun Soo. There is a lot of angst, sorrow and pain throughout this series, so prepare yourself. Although this drama could be considered a tragedy, the love generated between the two lead characters made for a VERY INTENSE realationship. For this unconventional drama, it proved to be a very unforgetable experience.
This was a good show. It's definitely not your "typical" KDrama, which was refreshing. It dealt a lot with the human psyche, I won't spoil it for the viewers. I thought it was rather slow in parts, I understand why, because you got to understand the characters in multi-layers. As always one of my fav. Kdrama stars, Lee Dong Wook did not disappoint.
Enjoyed lots of it the first time I watched but skipped over some episodes. Lee Dong Wook was great but I felt Oh Yun Soon was miscasted. I liked her in Jumong but she was a little unemotional in this series. Watched this quite a while back. I am now watching it for a second time so maybe I will change my mind about the story and about Oh Yun Soon. I do enjoy the light hearted romance KDramas but...I also appreciate very much the adult themed Kdramas.
If you are used to lighthearted, passionless, Romantic Korean movies, then this movie is not for you, those are probably the same people that found this movie boring!! I am actually surprised this is a Korean Movie because there is soo much passion, and topics are discussed and dealt with in a way that are usually not seen in a Korean film!! The husband opened up the Pandora's box with his Affair, but it was ultimately Joonsoo who kept it pried open.. This movie is Deep and each character is handled with the utmost care so that they could potray there role to the fullest!! I personally believe only a handful of Korean actors could have pulled this off and they picked the right ones.. I usually like Korean romances even though they sometimes seem silly and bland, but i do wish they could have more passion like this. Well done to the director, actors and producers of this movie, and this should have been an award winning movie!! Also the music was amazing!!
After hearing so much about screenwriter Jung Ha Yeon's talents in understanding the human psyche and weaving together moving and intelligent stories, I'm glad that he did not disappoint with this show. Each character is handled with care (with masterful acting from the four leads, I am pleasantly surprised to see how much Park Si Yeon improved from My Girl) and you become incredibly invested in them as you see their flaws and motivations, until they feel like real people. Though this show is not afraid to take you to dark places, as you see a marriage fall apart and people tortured by their pasts, this show also does not just leave you in darkness. At the end of the day, it is a story about finding strength in yourself and in love. The story, with all its twists and turns, reflects all the imperfections, sorrows, joys, and hope of life. I look forward to checking out more of Jung's works.
talic2011 got the phrase just right - emotional torture. That was an intense ride with Lee Dong Wook and Oh Yun Soo. They were both so amazing. It does start off a little slow because there's so much background you need to see to understand the beginning (which I forgot about until I got closer to the end and realized with tears in my eyes what was coming.) It's most assuredly not going to leave you feeling warm & fuzzy when it's done. It also took me awhile to watch because you just can't marathon this one, it's too tramatic for anything more than a little at a time. However, it is so beautifully well done - it's a masterpiece that moves your soul and you will be missing out should you pass this one up.
