Swallow the Sun starring Ji Sung, Lee Wan and Sung Yuri

Six years after their hit drama All In, the writer and producer of the now-classic Kdrama reunited to create another powerhouse drama. Led by a cast of Korea's top stars, Ji Sung of All In ,Save the Last Dance for Me and New Heart plays the tormented hero, joined by Sung Yuri, (One Fine Day, Hong Gil Dong) as the passionate, independent woman he falls for.

Shot everywhere from Las Vegas to Jeju Island, Swallow the Sun is the first k-drama to shoot in Africa, as well as impressively shot with Cirque du Soleil in its quest to bring the Kang Chul-Hwa novel vividly to life.

Jung Woo, an orphaned child, grows up on the rough side of the streets, and becomes a small-time hoodlum. When he saves the life of the rich and powerful president of a large corporation, it becomes his ticket to a better life. The chairman send him to Seoul to look after his son, Tae Hyuk (Lee Wan) who only wants one thing from him - to help him win the heart of a woman named Soo Hyun. Jung Woo will do anything to win favor with the President's family, unfortunately, the woman Tae Kyuk loves turns out to be Jung Woo's first love. Soo Hyuk, who doesn't remember Jung Woo, finds herself gradually drawn to him as he pursues her under his master's name. After learning the devastating truth of his father's true identity, Jung Woo is set on a whirlwind of a quest involving crime, love and revenge, taking him from the glittering lights of Vegas to the diamond mines of Africa.

this review might be a SPOILER for some people but overall, i thought it was pretty good. A couple things that bugged me were yes the females couldn't keep their mouth shut in this drama. I couldn't really see the chemistry between main actor and actress. Some plots were interesting(beginning and end) but middle tended to get a little dry. Overall, I thought it was very entertaining though. Excellent acting.

This drama is as good as ALL IN, though the songs and music are much better in ALL IN. Love the beautiful scenery of Jeju Island, the wild animals in Africa and the Cirque du Solell Show in Vegas. The charming Ji Sung and the cool Jun Kwang Ryul acted well in this drama. Hope that all these brilliant director, producer and writer will carry on with this type of great drama! I really enjoyed watching it.

The lead actor, Ji Sung, is scrumptious eye candy! This is a fantastic Korean version of Blood Diamonds and Casino. Spolier alert: I absolutely loved that it had a happy ending (especially after watching another K-Drama with a sad ending).

Clever infomercial for Jeju, Las Vegas and South Africa gambling/vice/tourist industries. Writer and/or director could have monetary interests. Acting is excellent as is generally true for Kdramas. JiSung (male lead) has nice voice, great walk and above average appearance. Liked him in "All In" also. Super talented Juen Kwang Ryeul (the father) steals the whole show. Story and characters well developed. Best movie card game ever with Jimmy and the other crazy guy - he was good in "Lovers" also. Good ending. Watched twice as there is so much going on and enjoyed it more the second time.

I'll first mention that I disliked so much fighting but understand that was just part of the drama. Other than that, I loved every minute of it. I liked the story line , the characters, though I think thr producers must have rounded up the most attractive people in the business, unlike everyday looking people.

I agree that it was a bit long but this drama had me on my toes from the beginning. Love Ji Sung. He was just gorgeous in every facet of his character's life.

After haviang that positively surprise with ALL IN, this is quite disappointing. Unnecessarily too long for the story! Lead female character Soon Hyun is pathetics and to tell the truth totally dispensable in this drama (and above all lacks chemistry between her and Jung Woo or Tae Hyuk). It is as if the main story was idealized by one person, started to be writen by another one and was concluded by a third part, all of them completely apart from each other and with different styles.. Better not seen as sequence of ALL IN and without any similar expectations. That way it'll not be shadowed. Nevertheless, beautiful locations and the really good acting of the main actors - specially of Jung Kwang Ryul who plays Jang Minho - makes it worth watching it, after all.
