Rebirth - Next Starring Ryu Soo Young and Jang Shin Young

Jang Shin Young (The Road Home), Ryu Soo Young (Bad Couple, Lawyers of Korea) and Lee Jong Soo (Yi San) headline this bittersweet story of fate and destiny.

When promising young stage actress Kang Jung Hwa (played by Jang Shin Young) and brilliant neurosurgeon Dr. Min Ki Beom (actor Ryu Soo Young) have a chance meeting on the subway, the encounter will spark a spiral of events that will change both their lives. Soon after, Jung Hwa inexplicably collapses, and begins to experience a series of memories from previous lives. At the suggestion of her boyfriend Min Ki Soo (Lee Jong Soo) she begins undergoing treatment for insomnia in the form of hypnosis with psychologist Lee Soo Hyeon (Park Ye Jin). What she doesn't realize is that the lives of the four are intertwined - Dr. Min is her boyfriend's brother and her psychologist's fiancee. When she delves into her past memories, she discovers a bittersweet, terrifying truth - that the four have always had intertwining fates, having collided in all of their past lives. As she searches for the key to discovering why they are born over and over only to be drawn together again into a cycle of misfortune, she fights the powerful attraction between herself and Dr. Min...

Didn't like the ending... Since I'm a huge fan of Korean historical dramas, I don't watch modern K-dramas often but the resurrection and intertwined storyline caught my attention. Be honest with you, the plot is intriguing but it could have been better. Don't get me wrong. The acting, scenery and the production were superb but the storyline could have been better with such an intriguing subject. Plus, I disagree with the way the writers of this drama think of rebirth/resurrection. I do believe in destiny and fate and your life is pre-determined. Haven't you noticed sometimes how things happened beyond your control? This drama suggests you can change your destiny if you tried harder. Thus, this drama didn't perk my interest as much as other K-dramas since I disagree with the belief to begin with.

3.5 different but interesting tragic love story in that in all past life and the current one, it ended the same way. rebirth concept was different in that it's not a common theme for dramas and movies but it was shown in an interesting way. it was shown with good taste. enjoyed it.

Thoughtful, Well Done I was very intrigued by this drama after reading the synopsis provided on this site and I really enjoyed the majority of the episodes. I don't want to say much at all about the series because I don't want to spoil any of it, but I found it to be very unique. I, like the characters, wish the series could have ended differently, but after watching it all, it is understandable as to why it ended the way it did. I would highly recommend this series.

Ending too depressing The acting is good and makes you care for the characters, which makes the horribly sad ending even worse. An excellent choice to view if you are contemplating suicide and need that extra push to send you over the edge.

One of my favorites Although I personally don't believe in fate and destiny I think this drama is 'tragically' romantic and touchingly beautiful. I most especially loved the Chosun and Koryo period flashbacks. The end of the Koryo period was so 'wow' that I could not stop sobbing - I really felt that desparate love! All four actors did a good job.

Interesting but sad. I liked the flashbacks and the story line, but I was sad for the ending. I was hopeing for a happy ending.

Great plot...poor acting. I loved the plot of this drama and that's what got me interested in watching it in the first place. Some parts of story seemed superfluous and it was very slow at some points, The acting of the scenes that took place in modern times was not that great. I wish the characters were more believable. The acting in the flashbacks wasn't top notch either, but there was something about them that made me watch 3 of them...Anyway I appreciated the plot and still felt moved at times. I'm on the 10th episode, and honestly I don't think I can finish this! I really just want to see the last flashback though...

Interesting premise Started out really strong, then kind of petered out toward the end. I thought the first past life was the best. Still, I really liked the premise and the strong acting by Ryu Soo Young. Have to admit that Jang Shin Young really got on my nerves. Speak faster, and don't look so empty!
