Unstoppable High Kick starring Jung Il Woo, Kim Hye Sung, and Lee Soon Jae
A famed daily sitcom that drew in huge ratings over its 167 episodes, Unstoppable High Kick is a funny, offbeat comedy following the lives of the sprawling Lee family. It jump-started the careers of many now-famous actors, most notably Jung Il-Woo (Return of Iljimae) and Kim Bum (Boys Over Flowers and The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry), and was popular enough to spawn a spin-off series, High Kick Through the Roof. Part situational comedy, part family drama, it follows the loves and lives of the quirky Lee family through three generations.
Lee Yoon Ho (Jung Il Woo) is the resident "bad boy" of his high school - famed for his love of motorcycles and the unstoppable "high kick" with which he defeats opponents in his frequent fights. His younger brother and best friend Lee Min Ho (Kim Hye Sung from Kingdom of the Wind), on the other hand, is a straight-A student who would rather spend his time building models and running web blogs. The two brothers are opposite in every way, but stand by each other through everything, as Min Ho deals with bullying and Yoon Ho fields an intense crush on his female teacher. Their father (Jung Joon Ha), meanwhile, is a shiftless dreamer who lost his job due to wild investments and now allows his domineering doctor wife (Park Hae Mi) to bring home the cash. Grandfather Lee Soon Jae is the heart of the family, a feisty, money-hungry patriarch with a ridiculous addiction to pornography. Uncle Min Yong (Choi Min Yong) is a recently-divorced teacher who's enjoying his newly single status by toying with both his co-worker and his ex-wife. These are just a few of the characters in this warm-hearted, often witty story about the ups-and-downs, love triangles, and generation gaps of an unusual, rambunctious family.
Not your average family. I looked foward to seeing what shenanigans they would pull in each episode. I loved the neurotic grandfather who never missed a chance to discpline his kids 'albeit grown'. He keyed the term pseudo family due to the endlesss coming and goings of his grandchildrens friends. I also enjoyed the tit for tat between the uncle Min Yong and sister in law, Park Hae Mi. If you want to be tickled pink, this is the drama to watch. A Laugh Riot.
I just can't connect with any of the characters. I feel that the whole story line just wanders with no real purpose. I feel the acting is over the top from all the characters. I tried seven episodes and I just am not sold on this series. I really don't care for the loud audience laughter that just distracts me. I really like a lot of the actors which is why I can't give it only one star.
:D I love this drama so far!!! It so funny and it's a nice change from once! I've been watching so many romantic drama to a comedy drama.. All the characters are sooo funny!! x) You laugh every 5 seconds and they make you wanna keep watching until the end.. hmm when will i finish all the episodes?! Soo many episodes and so little time ahaha. :s @People who wrote in my comment box: uhmm this is a review ..?
This is t he best sitcom ever, in any country! This is my second time watching it, there is nothing else that can compare, not even the second and third installments. This is the show that made me fall in love with Jung Junha; he's so hilarious and lovable. It's great to see Park Minyoung's early acting too, she was awesome in City Hunter. You've got to watch this show, trust me, you won't be able to stop once you start. It's got comedy, drama, suspense, and romance. It doesn't get annoying by repeating contrived scenes either; it's all fresh every ep.
One of the best sitcoms I have seen. I grew to love all the characters. Just makes you feel good watching. I cried and laughed throughout this. It is sad it has come to an end. I miss them already. It's weird, but I kinda felt like part of the family. O.o
