A Man Called God starring Song Il Gook, Han Go Eun, and Kim Min Jong

Megastar Song Il Gook of Jumong and The Kingdom of the Wind takes on a contemporary role as a revenge-driven hero in weekend drama A Man Called God. Based on a manhwa from Park Gong Sung, the drama also stars Han Chae Young of Delightful Girl Chun-Hyang. A high-budget action series, it was the first Korean drama to be filmed partially in Hawaii, and also utilized Honolulu, Waikiki Beach and other famous locations. Following the comic-book style of the manhwa, it's a love story about a man caught between revenge and love. Cold and brilliant billionaire/secret agent Choi Kang-ta sets out to avenge his parents' death but learns a little about love and justice along the way.

Orphaned at age 7 when his parents and sister are killed, Choi Kang-ta (played by Song Il Gook) is adopted by an American couple. Growing up in America, he joins the secret service and rises quickly in the ranks, becoming a top-notch international agent known as Michael King. After returning to Korea, he begins investigating his family's death, determined to avenge them. When his long-term partner and fellow agent Vivian Castle (Han Go Eun) betrays him, he's nearly killed, but is nursed back to health by journalist Jin Bo Bae (Han Chae Young).

After recovering he moves into a slum neighborhood and befriends the poor people there. Driven by their plight to seek justice for the world, he falls for the kind-hearted Bo Bae. But Hwang Woo-hyun (Kim Min Jong), a high-ranking agent with the National Intelligence Agency, is also in love with her, and sets powerful forces in motion to take out Kang-ta. Meanwhile, Kang-ta discovers (or so he thinks) that Bo Bae is the daughter of the man responsible for his family's death...

It is obvious the hair stylist was sleeping with the director. Otherwise, can anyone explain the hairdo? Maybe it was hair crack. Sometimes I can not take the scenes seriously, it is distracting.

I was engaged by the plot from the first episode. It remained exciting till the end. However, I was disapointed by the romance because it was open ended. The acting by all the leads was really good. Song Il Gook and Han Chae Young had an amazing chemistry but I wish they had more romantic scenes together.

Something different than the usual mother in law from hell or ex girlfriend or boyfriend that leads the whole drama. I loved the actors, They all did a great job. People saying that it's dragging, try to follow american dramas that never ever ends. Some has been on air before I was even born. Or before my parents even met. So, please just enjoy it and stop ruining it for every one else.

As always Song Il Kuk is a great actor and he performed this action packed drama superbly. Every movie I see with Song Il Kuk in it, is a sure bet. The story, acting and the twist of fate all and all was absolutely hand in hand well done!

Another great performance by Song Il Kuk. Very good drama. Great action, no time to be bored. A must see. Since I've seen Son Il Kuk in Emperor of The Sea, Jumong and The Kingdom of The Wind he can do no wrong in my eyes.

I like very much Song Il Kuk, as an actor. Definitely he's better in historical series (Jumong, The kingdom of the Wind, The Emperor of the Seas, etc) I already saw Lobbyist (not to bad) and Kimchi Family (Excellent, Five Stars for me).

Dropped after episode 4. The acting is bad, the plot makes no sense, the music is obnoxious, and what the hell did they do to Song Il Kook? He looks half-starved!
