Kim Soo Ro starring Ji Sung and Seo Ji Hye

This groundbreaking drama was the first drama ever to be shot in 3D video. Tracing the life of a legendary Korean figure, it stars Ji Sung (Swallow the Sun) and veteran actors Bae Jong Ok and Yoo Oh Sung.

Kim Soo Ro (played by Ji Sung) is heir to the throne during a period of great unrest and Korea is divided. As he fights to survive and claim his rights in a vicious political battle that will last for years, he must struggle against rival Ijinashi (Go Joo Won), his half-brother, who will do anything to take the throne. Relying only on passion, charisma, and his wits, Soo Ra fights his way into power and founds the city-state of Geumgwan Gaya, which goes on to dominate the sea trade and iron working during that period. Meanwhile former friends and ambitious courtiers try to bring him down, while a woman (Seo Ji Hye) enters his life.

Pg13 Complete with Easter egg oracle. Good as new near death resurrections. Preteen military strategy. Toddler ideologues, "I want to build a classless society were everyone can live in harmony, love and peace" ( NK dreaming ?) Has some speedy subtitles. Older Silla princess maybe better able to pass as the Indian princess. On the interesting side; Good point with the importance of technology (iron) for the times. One of the writers must have had one of those kind of mothers (madam Jonggyunbee) look at Ani's ear mole, otherwise good youth performance by her. What's with Suro's guilt driven masochism masquerading as nobility? Political stumping of arch nemesis is good for a laugh. Hung on through too many episodes, why not introduce another villain? And was that a aroused smirk when The priestess was getting her fanny spanked? Has pretty maidens and i do like that fanny

Promising start but it gets more ridiculous as you go along. If there is a negative star, I will give it. Jumong is the best.

Wow!!! While watching episode 11, I am so disappointed. The first 9 episodes were interesting. However, beginning in episode 10, you begin to see some major flaws. Especially when it reached episode 11 - it seemed as though the script writer and/or the director got bored and lost interest in their work... lol, they completely flushed their previous excellent work down the drain. There were many times in episode 11 that I shook my head/had goosebumps, and fast forward because the script/story line/directing had gone from great -> satisfactory -> unbearable. Haha, specifically the scene where the mother and son lead the army to fight -> was humiliating!!!. Despite that, I love the customs and screen play setting!!

@Tervvo seem to be the only with an honest review...I wished I had listened... The two stars are for the few exciting fighting scenes. This drama was a total waste of time; I quit it by the 14th episode. There were so many dumb moments I've never seen such in a historical drama..

Loved the villains played by Yoo Oh Sung and Lee Pil Mo. I give the subtitlers 5 stars for making me laugh so hard at the outrageous lines these two had. I had to respect Shin Kwi Gun in the end. As for Suk Tal Hae, well the devil could take lessons from him!

There were to many instances of stupidity. How many times can someone kidnap and kill people in a war situation when they should be guarded. How many times will people walk into enemy strongholds alone and miss obvious ambushes. How many times can people continue to be believed after they have been caught lying several times. The only people I thought did a good job were the Indian princess and the aunt. How many loved ones does your enemy kidnap and kill before you go all out to stop him. The writers and directors made the characters deaf and dumb,I just couldn't immerse my self very often. I liked the love story it was about right I think. It was nice to see the number two woman persevere stay strong, not look pathetic like most kdrama second love interests. A strong 3 because some parts were excellent, but i did shake my head a lot in frustration.. and get the man for a change. The acting wasn't bad, they delivered their lines well. A lot of the scenes were just to contrived and unrealistic for me.

The acting was superb and I really enjoyed the costumes as well. I had problems with the dialogs. I really do not think that they said ADIEU when someone died. Why would early Koreans speak french? Also there were many Western slang usages that just didn't fit. I also saw many typos in the translation subtitles. But overall, a beautiful story well acted. Bravo!
