Biography

Kang Ji Hwan was born Jo Tae Gyu in Seoul, South Korea on March 20th, 1979. He first began acting in the early 2000s, when he played in several popular musicals, such as Grease. It was during this time that his acting was first noticed by fans, critics. His growing popularity led to a role on two television shows, called Summer Scent, Nonstop 4 in 2003. Ji Hwan continued to play small roles for the next few years, until 2005.

In 2005, he got two fantastic acting opportunities. He acted in his first movie, Host, Guest. In addition, he also got his first lead role on a television series. The series, called Be strong, Guem-soon! It was this role that propelled Kang Ji Hwan into stardom. For his excellent acting, he received several new Actor awards, began to gain popularity with fans outside of Korea.

Since 2005, he has acted in six other television shows, three movies, one play. His most recent television series, called Lie to Me, has already gained a strong fan following, even though it only began running in 2011. Kang has also contributed two tracks to musical compilation albums.
