Biography
Born in Kang Nam, Seoul, South Korea, Lee Dong Gun is a singer, actor and model. A Roman Catholic, his baptized name is Emmanuel Lee. He began his singing career in 1998 with his album Time to Fly, and a guest spot on the Korean sitcom Three Friends in 2000 launched his acting career.
He has since appeared in dozens of television shows, such as Sweet 18 (2004), Lovers in Paris (2004) and When It’s At Night (2008). His film credits include Changing Partners (2007), My Boyfriend is Type B (2005), and Family (2000). His song A reum da woon sa jak was the theme for Lovers in Paris, and his songs have also been used for the television shows Stained Glass (2004) and A Tale of Autumn (2000).
His acting talents have earned him the 2004 Andre Kim Best Star Award and MBC’s 2008 Excellence Award for Drama. He has won numerous other awards, including Best Dressed at the 2004 Dong-A Fashion and Beauty Awards. He speaks Korean, Japanese and English. From 2010-2012 he served as an Honorary Military Ambassador for Korea, and was the promotional ambassador for the 2012 Korean Formula One Grand Prix.
