Decent drama, not special. Shades of Full House... revolving around a contractual lie betraying the family, etc. Comedy in between but usually so so. The girl may grow on you or may not.... Same for the guy. A few exceptional scenes but mostly your standard love triangle, high-society ex-girlfriend seeks revenge, cardboard CEO prince can't figure out his feelings and the plucky girl next door who wins him over. Next up I need a game changer...
Oh the familiar fake dating contract, the unapproving mother of the corp. prince and yet refreshingly, a food-centric story almost like Pasta, with a very unique character at it's center: Sam Soon, the reason you will continue to watch... a very chubby "spinster" with a rough exterior and a sensitive inside, now at a crossroads with what to do with her guy-less life. Overall a well excuted story with great casting. Nice photography, especially in the first episode,
The main thing that killed it for me... Rain's character is the same in the last episode as in the first. From the setup, he clearly needed to mature and earn some sympathy, though this only happens in very small degrees. Also her "friends" are not really friends, so technically she has a long history of bad relationships. The "nice guy" is intentionally drawn to be a bore. What are the writers trying to say in all that? Even for entertainment's sake, I felt it needed to develop with more range. The concept of an "ordinary person" dating a celebrity is interesting but I thought they could have gotten more out of that. Also she lacked any real family but they dropped the family towards the end, why? It was worth watching for it's impact on the genre, though it does look dated to me. In fact for some reason I thought of Brock Landers in Boogie Nights... who was the stylist on this show? Aiishhhhh...
