From the beginning towards the middle, the writers manage to craft THE perfect balance of action, romance, comedy and drama. Unfortunately, the writing becomes sloppy from the middle towards the ending. This is probably only negative thing I have to say about City Hunter and is why I'm only giving 4 stars, cause it could have been better. There's a reason why City Hunter had such a huge following. It's a drama series that's deserving of it 100%. It's not overrated. It's popular because it's good. The directing is SLICK, the score is great, outstanding acting, and… the writing, overall was good. The pros of this drama far outweigh the negatives. Lee Min Ho really proved himself not as only eye candy but as an actor here. He carried the emotional scenes expertly, managing to portray the conflicted emotions of his character in a subtle manner. Lee Joon Hyuk and Kim Sang Joong were just as amazing. If you haven't watched City Hunter yet, I suggest you do so now!
I absolutely love this drama! Sure, it's unrealistic (it's a drama!) but is that a bad thing? Absolutely not. King 2 Hearts seems to be billed as a romance but it's so much more than that. The storyline sounds like Spy Myung Wol but the comparison is way off. The drama is more about Lee Jae Ha's struggles and his growth as the King of South Korea: It's about finding courage and trust. To sum up, it's more of a revenge/thriller drama. The pacing, storyline and character development is assured and the acting is well-done. Even the side characters are interesting and there's some plot twists, as well as some funny moments in this drama. I haven't been bored at all while watching. King 2 Hearts far exceeded my expectations-- it's that awesome.
