I've rarely watched or read anything about war that is as horrifying, heartbreaking, and satisfying as this drama. The characters really drive this drama, and the action sequences and makeup etc. are all very realistic looking. The acting is great, the soundtrack is gorgeous, and the directing, editing, and cinematography are all solid. I'm also glad that the romance didn't take up too much time, and that the women in the drama had strong roles. I also don't think I've ever cried so much watching anything. Literally, I was sobbing straight through the last few episodes. Highly recommended. One of the best K-dramas.
The prologues are so funny, and when the drama is cute and fluffy fun, it's a breeze to watch. However, when it delves into the drama, it tanks. The whole son plot line felt like it was only there to draw out some tension, which wasn't needed at all, since they could have used the drama to actually develop all of the couples. Lee Jong-hyuk is hilarious, and for the most, all the actors and actresses act well. The writing, however, is sloppy and lazy.
... if you must, but really, there's better things to watch. I could only get eight episodes in, and I'm going to blame it mostly on the horribly aimless writing. Gong Yoo is fabulous, and Baek Sung-hyun is ridiculously adorable, but the drama just never really goes anywhere and doesn't answer hardly any of the questions it brings up. There are some really hilarious and sweet moments throughout, but they weren't enough to keep me hooked.
