I am so happy, because I have not seen a really serious saguek for so long. I know they show them in Korea and but they do not subtitle and license them for the overseas audience (unless you buy the expensive dvd sets). I hope it doesn't devolve into a silly romance, and mainly focuses on the history.
Really like Mickey (PYC) in this drama. He looks so relaxed, rested and good shape. When i saw him in SKK Scandal, he was exhausted working another gig, and he was losing weight, and looked stressed. SSK is doing pretty good, (she will never be a great actress, but this is a part she can fudge by pretty well). The plot is very thin and very predictable (I guess because it was a comic book) but still, it is quite engaging. The actors are doing a great job, and I like it. The only part I find excessive is the death of little sister, and they keep showing that horrific scene over and over........I wish they could have avoided that somehow or did not show this over and over, that is too manipulative. As of episode 8, It continues to be a bit too violent for shock value, for my taste, but has its charms.
SPOiLERS: Jang Hyuk!!! But, cannot go over 2 stars. The first two episodes were very good but episodes 3 and 4 dragged. Too too too much farting and butt jokes and cross dressing. The martial arts scenes were in darkness, or just stop-start, slow mo video tricks, not choreographed and rehearsed. Is the show a saguek, comedy, romance, melodrama? It doesn't seem to make up its mind. Episodes 7&8 got better. But soon again gets silly and boring. Yool's dying camille routine goes on and on and on and on and ........... The story is repetitive, convoluted, goes no where and yes so stupid I feel like my IQ goes down 10 points per episode. And then to top it off they kill off one of the only characters I liked - Sewon. Mostly I skipped through the rest. The ending was pretty good though, just takes too long to get there.
