Very well written story and beautifully acted. It was not the ending I preferred but still a realistic one. One thing did not ring true though. How could the teacher stay married to such a vindictive, overbearing wife who seemed to make every decision concerning his life?
It is sad to think that the wife wanted to sacrifice her life so her husband would have the insurance money but he had not the time or inclination to help her heal after his infidelity. He destroyed her life and now wants to destroy her new life by bringing down her husband. He has no shame, no remorse, no integrity whatsoever.
I liked this movie very much. The little girl would die but she would get the chance to fulfill her dream of seeing America. I had a few problems with the Americans, however. The daughter could be American but the father did not seem like an American at all. Also, an American father would never sleep in the same bed as his daughter, especially a father of the upper class, which he seemed to be, since he could afford money to pay for the adoption, the trip and all the expenses.
