I'm undecided about this one. Wow for Jung Gyu Woon's character. He was able to show his love so consistently. Even when he briefly fell apart, it was because of the intense love he felt. Some of the women were shown as wishy-washy, one being especially spoiled rotten, some very selfish. And like most k-dramas I've seen, tears were flowing freely in about every episode. Great story line, too drawn out, the drama ended--well--it ended. I didn't like the way it ended. I appreciated knowing two people who strongly loved each other remained together, but we were left hanging. The people with higher status gave themselves permission to put down others while overlooking some of the things they did that were just as bad or worse. I wish the writer could have shown the women in a more positive light as some of them seemed to be stereotyped. Yes, I know. It's a drama for entertainment, but it doesn't have to be both underwhelming and overwhelming us. Just take a good story line and do good things with it.
I was enjoying all the ins and outs of this drama, but the ending is sooooo not good because it's one big disappointment. The cancer thrown in didn't add anything worthwhile to the plot. This drama had lots of potential. It could have been better. I feel like writing a different ending just to satisfy myself, but I don't have ownership of this work. That said, don't let me discourage you from watching it. You may see things differently from me. If so, then the writer will have pleased someone with a perspective different from mine. Enjoy part or all of it.
This is a bittersweet drama filled with violence and tenderness, love and hatred, loyalty and disloyalty, affection and deceit plus an unexpected ending. Multifaceted characters tug at your heart. When trying to dislike one of the main characters, something comes along to turn your feelings around. All are flawed characters, making them realistic humans. The actors are well up to the task of fulfilling their roles. Often you wonder if the friendships are going to be splintered or weather the storm. By the time you finish watching, you understand that the friends are always to be held accountable. Midway in the first segment of this drama I was won over. The playwright showed insightfulness about human nature, demonstrating none of us can freely travel our chosen path without having interruptions or sometimes veering in a different direction. Watching this drama from start to end will be time well spent
