Biography

Carlos Areces was born in Madrid, Spain on the 27th of March, 1976. His first prominent role was in La hora chantante, a Spanish comedy program aired once a month. He participated in the program frequently between its beginning in May 2002. From there he moved on to roles in other humoristic programs such as El Típic Programa, Plan C, Muchachada Nui, and Noche sin Tregua among others. Areces has also performed in various series, such as Plutón B.R.B Nero, a science-fiction sitcom, and on the big screen, most memorably in Spanish Movie, a parody similar to Scary Movie in terms of style.

His most recent performances came in 2012 in Fenómenos, and in the fifth season of Águila roja. Carlos Areces has perhaps enjoyed more fame off-screen, as his illustrating has been widely celebrated, especially after his animated motion projects such as the pilot for the animated series Guillaume that, although never entering production, did earn Areces the award to best animated series given out by Animadrid. In terms of graphic humor, he was awarded to Premio Ivá to best professional strip cartoonist in 2009.
