Biography

Demian Bichir is a Mexican actor born in Torreón on August 1st, 1963. He debuted with small roles in telenovelas. Around the same time he appeared in various movies like Rojo Amanecer, Miroslava, and La Vida Conyugal. Later on he participated in telenovelas from TV Azteca like Nada Personal and Demasiado Corazón. Then Demian headed to Bolivia where he partook in the movie American Visa by the director Juan Carlos Valdivia. Soon after, he participated in the miniseries Zapata, Amor en Rebaldia where he interpreted a Mexican revolutionary leader called Emiliano Zapata.

In 2008, Demian Bichir returned to cinema to interpret Fidel Castro in the movie Che, which was about the life and death of Che Guevara. Later on he performed the voice for Chef Louis and Prince Eric in La Sirenita and also landed the role of protagonist in Aladdín. Demian Bichir’s popularity grew when he participated in the movies Cilantro y Perejil, Sexo, Pudor y Lágrimas, and Todo el Poder. In the year 2000, he did the voice of Tulio in El camino hace El Dorado. Later on in January 24th, 2012, Damian Bichir was nominated for an Oscar for his role as Carlos Galindo in the movie A Better Life.
