Michael Blunck
191 fansProfile
Michael Blunck is one of many Western actors becoming more prolific on Korean television. He was born in the United States in 1976, after which he decided to move to Korea to pursue acting opportunities overseas. After studying the language a great deal, Michael Blunck had honed his skills enough to land a role in a television show. He has been on two different programs so far, playing an American in each. The first was Jewelry Bibimbop, where he played an American coming abroad to Korea. The show aired on MBC in 2009. The second show that he was in was SBS' New Tales of the Gisaeng where he played Kyle.
As an American coming to Korea to act, Michael Blunck has faced a number of challenges, not the least of which was learning the language. He has faced some harsh criticism for being part of a wave of Western actors to land roles on Korean television dramas, as well as criticisms of his language ability. Through it all, his roles are generally well-liked on the screen, and he is becoming quite a respected actor. There are not many Western actors working in Korea, so there are sure to be plenty of roles for him in the years to come.
