Shanghai Kiss (N/A)

Starring and

Shanghai Kiss starring Ken Leung and Hayden Panettiere

In his debut feature film, Shanghai Kiss, Writer/Director David Ren explores what it's like to be on the fringes of Hollywood from the perspective of an Asian-American actor caught between his ambitions and his cultural roots that force him to reconsider where he's heading.

Liam Lu (Ken Leung) is a struggling actor in L.A. who passes the time by picking up beautiful, vapid girls in hip Hollywood bars. The closest thing to an emotional connection in Liam’s life is a flirtatious friendship with 16-year old Adelaide (Hayden Panettiere), a precocious high school girl whose maturity surpasses Liam's. When he learns he has inherited his grandmother’s home in Shanghai, China, he travels to the exotic city and discovers a profound connection to his family legacy. There, Liam meets the sophisticated Micky (Kelly Hu), and finds himself instantly infatuated with her. Liam decides to move to China, leaving behind Adelaide – who is quite possibly the only girl who has ever loved him.
