About

Gangnam Blues completes the Street Trilogy that director Yoo Ha has been working on for the past decade. It was 10 years ago, when director Yoo completed Spirit of Jeet Keun Do, which depicts youths involved in the violence within South Korean education system, and 8 years since A Dirty Carnival, which showed how money is used to create violence.

As director Yoo Ha’s final installment of the Street Trilogy, Gangnam Blues focuses on a tumultuous decade in Korean history, when development of Gangnam distrct first began. Much like his first 2 films, the streets of Gangnam are created with violence and conspiracy by those with power and those without. As symbols of the rich and powerful, these 3 films take place in Gangnam district, so it can also be called the Gangnam Trilogy, and as they all star youths as protagonists, they can also be called the Youth Trilogy.
