Hannah New is a British model and actress. She was born in Balham, London. New is best known for her starring role as Eleanor Guthrie, the owner of a saloon in Nassau on the Showtime TV show Black Sails. New is the youngest of three sisters. Starting at age of four, she attended a ballet school and later joined the National Youth Theatre. She studied English and Spanish at the University of Leeds and headed off for Spain, where she studied Spanish and Meisner acting technique. New got her Master in Acting degree with a Honors in 2011. She can speak fluent Spanish. New was discovered by American talent manager Stacey Castro while she was in Barcelona, Spain in 2009 and was soon cast in the television series The Borgias. She went on to star in the adaptation of María Dueñas' novel El Tiempo Entre Costuras , otherwise known as The Time in Between, where she played Rosalinda Fox, a young British woman who is the lover of Juan Luis Beigbeder. New can be seen on the big screen as Queen Leila, Aurora's mother, in the Disney film Maleficent, which stars Angelina Jolie.
