5 K-pop idols who turned into amazing songwriters
There are many idols who have probably flirted with the idea of composing their own songs. Year after year, we see brand new groups emerge and wonder which songs represent their life experiences. Out of those idols, a few have actually ventured into becoming respected songwriters in the K-Pop industry. Whether it be for themselves, their band, or other singers, the five singers on this list have brought their talent to the forefront.
1. BIGBANG's G-Dragon
The fashion king is not only a songwriter, but is also a record producer as well. Since 2006, he has been a part of the music making process for BIGBANG's albums. The G-Dragon: ‘One of a Kind in Seoul' star was also instrumental in writing music and lyrics for his debut solo album Heartbreaker.
2. SHINee's Jonghyun
A year after SHINee made their debut, lead singer Jonghyun teamed up with fellow member Minho to pen the lyrics to their hit single "Juliette." The I AM star continues to compose his own songs and debuted as a solo artist early last year.
3. Wonder Girls' Yenny
The JYP Nation idol sits in the songwriter chair when opportunity knocks. In addition to composing and singing the single "Hello To Myself" for the Dream High 2 OST, she helped write the lyrics and create the music for every song on her solo mini album "Me?". She also composed the songs "Saying I Love You" and "For Wonderful."
The beloved girl group member was 100% part of the production process for her debut solo mini-album Beautiful. The Song For You host wrote the lyrics, put together the music, and arranged almost all of the tracks on the project.
5. BtoB's Jung Il Hoon
Since his debut with his Cube Entertainment boy band in 2012, the young idol has been a part of the songwriting, music and arrangement for BtoB, CLC, Dal Shabet, HyunA and G.NA albums. That is very impressive for a 21-year-old!
