Irish teacher denied a job in Seoul because of the "alcoholism nature of her kind"
Irish? Well, running through your veins may be the "alcoholism nature of your kind" that will prevent you from being hired as a teacher at one particular school in South Korea! Seriously! Katie Mulrennan from Ireland received the craziest rejection letter ever, stating just that!
The 26-year-old teacher, who has previously worked in various countries like the United Arab Emirates, Spain, and South Korea, sent her teaching application to a school in Seoul she found advertised on Craigslist.Mulrennan was already well prepared for rejection because when teaching abroad, many schools tend to hire teachers from North America for accent purposes. However, Mulrennan's Irish accent wasn't the issue here; instead, it was the stereotype that unfortunately comes with just being Irish, as pointed out in this rejection email:

Mulrennan replied to that email but never heard anything back, so she reported the post to Craigslist. She has since found another teaching position in Seoul and had this to say: "I still love the country and being in Seoul."
How would you have reacted if you received this rejection letter?
