The General and I is a gripping story of intense war and unlikely love. Chinese star Angelababy may not change her attire very often in the action series, but when she does, it's a fashion statement. She plays maidservant Bai Ping Ting, who obviously knows how to make an entrance even on a budget. From her battle clothes to her wedding gown, these are gowns you need in your wardrobe.

1. She looks like a powerful superhero straight out of comic strip! Ping Ting's powers rests in her incredible ability to strategize and play the zither to distract an enemy army. She does a great job in flowing, pastel-colored gowns.

2. If you're going into historical captivity, you might as well do it in style! Ping Ting didn't know a wedding was planned for her when she first arrived, but I'd say she was already dressed for the reception. No one could beat this exquisite yellow and green dress, unless you are a queen.

3. The white dress is classic, but the only way to approach royalty is to accessorize! I don't know about you, but I would love to have this long, dark vest with the furry top. Faux fur is preferred, and that design is everything!

4. Status upgrade came when she was about to marry a famous general. This would explain the pink, floral-sequin jacket that adorned her white dress with the same sequins.

5. Do you need new wedding dress ideas? For her ceremony, Ping Ting wore a crimson wedding gown that was so elaborate it looked like it was made for a fairy tale. White gets boring at times, and this design is mesmerizing.

Which period piece do you want to see hanging in your closet?
