6 Reasons you shouldn't give up on Jealousy Incarnate just yet
Pyo Na Ri, Reporter Lee, and Go Jung Won have left the building. Well.....not really. You can still binge watch the entire Jealousy Incarnate series here! But if you're still one of those who's looking for that divine intervention on why you should watch the drama.....here are 6 reasons you should't give up during the first few episodes.
1. Because....GONG HYO JIN!
She's lovingly called Gongvely (Gong +Lovely) by her fans and has given us classics like It's Okay, That's Love, Pasta and The Master's Sun. The actress is known for her penchant to pick offbeat, yet thoughtful, dramas, and rest assured, Jealousy Incarnate fits the bill to the T! If you're a Gong Hyo Jin fan, then this drama is a must-watch.
It definitely helps that you can binge watch a drama where the two male leads are FREAKING CUTE! Not even kidding about this. While Jo Jung Suk has his own bad boy charm that reels you in, Go Kyung Pyo is an outright chaebol with a heart of gold. No matter how hard you try, you won't be able to stop yourself from falling in love with them!
3. It's pretty much your life!
The overriding sentiment, that you don't have to be perfect to have a great love story, is oddly refreshing and satisfying. Without giving away any spoilers, both Pyo Na Ri and Reporter Lee are flawed individuals. While one is dealing with health issues, the other has her own insecurities to cope with - and the recognition and celebration of these flaws is what make the drama a winner!
4. Twin syndrome
If you're not familiar with the actresses Park Ji Young and Lee Mi Sook, you might mistake them for twins only to get to episode 13 to realize that they actually are not related at all! It's insane just how similar they look in this drama! Did anyone else mistake them for twins, too?
5. Breaking barriers
One of the most standout factors of this drama, for me particularly, was the portrayal of so many characters coping with illnesses. For starters, Jo Jung Suk has breast cancer. That in itself is an interesting twist considering not many dramas, or even films, in both Hallyu and Hollywood talk about men coping with this issue. Secondly, Lee Sung Ja, who plays the chef, is shown as being asexual. Jealousy Incarnate has definitely handled so many issues with such sensitivity!
6. New age relationships are complicated
No kidding! Love in the 21st Century ain't all fun and games, and the show totally gets that. There are three love triangles at play. The first one shows the struggles of Gen Next characters Gong Hyo Jin, Jo Jung Suk and Go Kyung Pyo, the second one shows the struggles faced by older characters Park Ji Young, Lee Sung Jae and Lee Mi Soon, and the third one shows the troubles faced by millennials Moon Ga Young and Kim Jung Hyun.
