K-pop is becoming more and more popular worldwide and has especially established a presence across Asia. It is no surprise, then, that many K-pop idols are from different parts of Asia and from across the world. South Korean entertainment companies have definitely realized the potential of pulling talent from foreign countries!

Below are 10 South Korean idols who are not actually Korean but are super talented and popular nonetheless!

1. Nichkhun of 2PM

Nichkhun was born in California to Thai-Chinese and Chinese-American parents. Besides the United States, Nichkhun also lived in Thailand and New Zealand during his childhood. He became a trainee at JYP Entertainment in 2006 at the age of 18. After joining the agency, he learned Korean and Mandarin Chinese and then debuted with 2PM in 2008. Nichkhun and the rest of 2PM are currently preparing for their comeback later in June!

2. Ailee

Ailee was born in Colorado but grew up in New Jersey. Unlike all of the other singers on this list, Ailee's parent are Korean, but the singer herself is American. Ailee moved from the US to Korea in 2010 to pursue her lifelong passion for singing.

3. Henry Lau of Super Junior M

Henry Lau was born in Toronto, Canada. His father was from Hong Kong and mother was from Taiwan. Henry plays many musical instruments and actually planned on being a professional violinist before being recruited to SM Entertainment in 2006. Henry has been very involved in the production side of SM as well as the performance side. He is certainly a very talented idol!

4. Fei of Miss A

Fei was born in Haikou, Hainan, China and debuted in South Korean with the JYP girl group Miss A. Fei is currently attending Seoul Institute of the Arts with her bandmate, Jia. 

5. Jackson Wang of Got7

Jackson was born in Hong Kong and was actually a former national fencer. He was even ranked 11th in the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics! Jackson is definitely multi-talented!

6. Amber of f(x)

Amber is Taiwanese-American and was born in California in 1992. Amber was selected to be a trainee for SM Entertainment in 2008 at their Los Angeles global audition. After a year and a half of training, she debuted under the new South Korean girl group f(x) in September 2009.

7. Mark Tuan of Got7

Mark was born in the US and is actually the oldest member of Got7. He is easy to spot because of his magnificent red hair!

8. Lay of EXO

9. Jia of Miss A

Like her fellow Miss A member Fei, Jia was born in China and debuted with Miss A in 2010. She is preparing for her film debut in this Chinese film The Third Kind of Love, which is set to come out later in 2015.

10. BamBam of Got7

BamBam was born in Thailand in 1997 and is the youngest member of Got7. BamBam trained for three years with JYP Entertainment before debuting in 2014.
