In a tragic accident at K-pop girls group 4Minute's outdoor concert in Seoul yesterday, 16 people were killed and 11 were critically injured after falling 10 meters when a grate collapsed underneath them.

The group of people were standing on an elevated grate in order to get a better view of the group. Sadly, the grate collapsed under their weight, causing 16 people to fall to their deaths. Rescue workers say the death toll may rise. Witnesses stated that many of the victims were female students.

A local fire official stated, "Twelve people were killed at the scene; two others died while they were being rushed to the hospital. Others are assumed to have passed away while receiving medical treatment."

One eyewitness told YTN news, "There was a sudden, loud screaming, and when I turned it looked as if people were being sucked down into a hole."

As the country still mourns the deaths of over 300 people during the Sewol ferry accident due to slack safety regulations, this incident may intensify the debate about safety standards in South Korea.

We feel deeply saddened by this incident, and we express our condolences to the victims and their families at this time.
