After 2NE1’s youngest member Minzy confirmed to leave the band, YG Entertainment dropped new details about the girl group: 2NE1 will resume as a trio without a new member, and the girls will release new music this summer.

Minzy's departure becomes official in May when her contract with YG Entertainment expires. Moving forward, 2NE1 will continue as a trio. The band has no plans to replace Minzy with a fourth member, YG Entertainment explained. The remaining members, CL, Sandara Park, and Park Bom, are hard at work for a summer comeback.

Minzy's departure confused the three remaining members at first, but the girls were determined to keep 2NE1 alive, according to YG Entertainment.

The four girls have been together for the past 11 years, starting from their trainee days. 2NE1 debuted 7 years ago and has released hit songs like I Don’t Care, Ugly, and Come Back Home.

2NE1 provisionally stopped making public appearances as a group after Park Bom's 2014 drug scandal. YG Entertainment apologized to the 2NE1 fans who have been crossing their fingers to see 2NE1 come back again as a whole group. After her contract with YG Entertainment ends in May, Minzy will move on to another agency. We wish her best of luck!
