Tax scandals are a big issue, and they are happening to some of our favorite K-drama celebrities.

1. Jang Geun Suk

Actor Jang Geun Suk, 28, resigned from the second season of the reality TV show Three Meals a Day after the tax scandal broke out on January 15, a day before the show’s official launch.

Korean National Tax Services (NTS) in Seoul audited Jang Geun Suk and his agency Tree J at the end of last year. After the audit, Tree J made a surcharge payment for neglecting to report Jang’s income from working abroad.

Jang Geun Suk was the original fixed cast of Three Meals a Day along with Cha Seung Won and Yoo Hae Jin. After Jang Geun Suk resigned, producer Na Young Suk of Three Meals a Day edited him out of the first episode, saying "this is not the time” to have Jang Geun Suk on the show. Producer Na replaced Jang Geun Suk with actor Son Ho Jun of Answer Me 1994.

A week after resignation, Jang Geun Suk apologized for the scandal on his fan website. “The memories in Manje Island (where the show was filmed) were so beautiful and precious. I was waiting for the launch of the program day by day, but it seems that it will just have to live in my memory. I am sorry for many of you who were waiting and expecting to see me on the show,” Jang Geun Suk said, adding that he will take this as an opportunity to mature.

2. Song Hye Gyo

Actress Song Hye Gyo, 32, was involved in a tax scandal in August 2014, shortly before the premiere of the film My Brilliant Life with actor Kang Dong Won. At the press conference of the film, she walked onto the podium before the conference started and read a statement that explained the scandal. "All of this happened because of my fault. Of course, I deserve all harsh words. But I am worried that the scandal will damage the film." Song Hye Gyo continued, "A lot of people worked hard on this. I am sorry for hurting people around me because of my personal scandal."

3. Han Ye Seul

Actress Han Ye Seul, 33, who recently filmed Birth of a Beauty, bought a property in Los Angeles, CA, which became an issue when it wasn't reported on her tax return. On January 12, celebrities and CEOs were caught in a forex trading tax scandal. Han Ye Seul's agency explained that she bought the property in 2011 under her name and reported it as an international property to the NTS. Actress Han Ye Seul explained, "(The tax scandal) was a result of my lack of knowledge on the real estate regulations. I will submit the surcharge payment as soon as possible."

What do you think of these scandals? Do you think these were deliberate, or just mistakes?
